Probably go to a safe pair of hands then - Emma Willis or Davina McCall maybe.

I can't see either doing it. They'd probably go for Roman Kemp.

Don’t think he’s anywhere near big enough and doesn’t present anything else on ITV.
Wouldn't be surprised if that changes soon though, after I'm a Celebrity 2019. He got to the final, so he must've gained some new fans. They just need to find a format for him.

Joel Dommett only just got his big TV gig and that came three years after his stint in the jungle. It might be a while before they are convinced that Roman could do a primetime Saturday night show, let alone the flagship annual Ant & Dec and This Morning awards ceremony.

Roman has ITV2 spin-off written all over him really, but those formats have now gone in the same way children's TV roles have largely gone. When you think about it the reality show spin-offs has been the testing ground for emerging presenting talent over the last 15-20 years, so another key pathway is being lost.

You have a good point there.

I feel like the only way to become a TV Presenter is though Reality TV. I miss the days when you would see these new faces on Children's Television or these youth channels. Not saying they should stop doing that tho. They have produced some talent like Kem and Rylan.

Just to get us back on topic, I think Ant and Dec or Joel Dommett would be a good shout for host of the NTA's.

Hard for Ant & Dec to host it when they're going to end up winning half of the awards anyway.

The trouble is it is basically the ITV Christmas Party, so not sure the likes of Holly and Phil or Bradley would want to host it when it's basically a piss up.

It could go host free I suppose like the Oscars has (and the Logies in Australia, their equivalent of the NTAs) but not a huge fan of that to be honest.

Thats true about whoever getting it essentially giving up a piss up. As I say I suspect they’ll try and get Dermot back but I don’t know if he’d do it. There aren’t many obvious candidates and it’s the sort of show you’d expect to go for the obvious!

The host isn’t the only thing that needs sorting though. The ratings this year definitely suggested that the show needs a bit of a revamp. When Dermot first started they completely changed the whole thing, but not much seemed to change for the new host this year.

National Television Awards 2021 have been postponed and will happen on Tuesday 20th April 2021.

No clue on who will be host just yet.

This is the issue though isn't it. The best options for hosts are people who are going to win hosting awards for something or other - Ant and Dec, Holly & Phil. Not sure of the need to postpone it given they were still 6 months away but I guess they don't think they'll be much new content for a few months even with restrictions being eased.

I guess you could get Clarkson or Piers Morgan to do it now they're both firmly under ITV but there probably not the most open invitation selections of host on the planet.

Paul O'Grady might fit the good presenter whose well-respected but not so involved in too many shows that would win awards (I guess he could get one for For the Love of Dogs if a new series is in the pipeline but not much else.

I doubt Holly and Phil would want to host it - the show is their annual piss up.

That's why I put them under best options who won't do it alongside Ant and Dec as their too likely to win other awards and as you say enjoy the event.

Jonathan Ross?

They might as well just scrap the show and give an award out each year to the usual suspects, job done to be honest

I suppose it has always suffered the same problem to an extent, Barrymore used to sweep them up rather than Ant and Dec
