That filling at the end was a tad cringeworthy, they should really have had a montage of some highlights or red carpet arrivals or something that they could have just gone to before the credits rolled.
Makes a change from having to walk on from the side and force the winners to wrap up though.
A BritBox ECP (normal ITV layered card style) at the end there, in the branded colours. Is that a first? Not everyday you see the BBC logo on one of those.
I have seen that before. Can’t remember when think it was after a drama but I have seen it before. Red back card and blue front card on a white background wasn’t it.
This from 7th December - guessing tonight's was similar:
I watched on catch up and it felt all over the place, Walliams kept trying to flip between comedy and serious (what on EARTH was that David Schwimmer part all about?!) and they didn't even have a VT at all for one of the categories!
Then of course the awkwardness of Phil and Ruth, and just to top the night off Walliams with his rather odd comment about Caroline Flack!
The best part was the last 5 minutes where Sir Trevor turned up to present an award...also don't they usually do a short VT in memory of all the TV stars that have sadly passed away in the past year usually?

Seeing Trevor back makes me think how the show would benefit coming back to a smaller venue like the Royal Albert Hall.
I felt at times, like the speech by Michael Palin, it got lost after a while and when the attention of the audience was lost you could audibly hear them chattering in the background. Michael himself looking a little distracted by it.
A smaller venue would mean everyones attention would be maintained. And plus a better host would of course help. Though knowing ITV they'd more than likely just swap Walliams with Mulhern.
Agree 100%, RDJ. And whilst the broadcast sound might have been just about bearable, I’ve heard previous participants complaining that the din inside the shed makes it quite difficult to hear many of the speeches and on-stage sounds. Meaning that the audience becomes easily distracted and starts to talk amongst themselves, further exacerbating the problem.
The Royal Albert Hall and Sir Trevor would be a fine combination. Even Richard Madeley would make for a more suitable host, IMO.
