It is a 90 minute show stretched over a 2.5 hour show. It should be cut down to maybe 2 hours at most, and possibly not done live. If it was pre-recorded a few hours earlier it could be much better with it edited.
Have you never watched the Baftas when they try and edit on the fly? On more than one occasion it’s ended up a mess.
They've been short on time all night and rush in the middle... then they have to painfully fill at the end as they've got loads of time to fill.
Ironic that David's last gag of the night was him being fired from the awards. He's gone down like a lead balloon on social media. He really isn't a natural presenter.
A BritBox ECP (normal ITV layered card style) at the end there, in the branded colours. Is that a first? Not everyday you see the BBC logo on one of those.
Next year they need to pay whatever it takes to get Ricky Gervais to host.
I don't think it would work in a venue that size. He needs a smaller, brightly lit room full of the people he's taking swipes at in order to have full effect.

Ricky's fee would be a fortune for them just for one night - they will search ITV presenter pool - get ready for Ant and Dec hosting next year, as that joke of them hosting it tonight might turn into reality for 2021.
I see Piers Morgan has had a go at David's presentation tonight on Twitter.
"Walliams bombing so badly. Unbearable to know @rickygervais is sitting in the audience but we have to endure this horror hosting. Come on Ricky, storm the stage"

Only so many household names in the audience - jokes about lesser known soap actors or supporting members of the This Morning team will fall a bit flat.

I have seen that before. Can’t remember when think it was after a drama but I have seen it before. Red back card and blue front card on a white background wasn’t it.

I’m not sure he’d work. He’s quite distant from mainstream British TV these days. Can you imagine him making gags about populist ITV and BBC One programming and coming across like he actually watches these shows?
Of course Walliams hasn’t gone down well, it’s social media in 2020. Nobody would go down well.
It was worth having a different more comedy feel tonight, the X Factor style that Dermot did had run its course.

Plus unlike the Golden Globes this is public voted. So by massively mocking the nominees and winners in his way you sort of mocking the public who voted for them.
