This was announced a while ago.
On a presentation note, I always liked watching the NTA's in the 1st 4-5 years where they would cycle between the terrestrial channels logos of the time before showing the clips of the programmes. I suppose they gave that up as there are too many channels & streaming services to consider. Interesting that I think most of the shortlist is still made up of programmes on the main 5 channels. Which is how I'd like it to remain.

Because they’ve got better things to broadcast on weekends.
So the 2020 event will be on Tuesday 28th January 2020 at 7.30pm - I never understood why they have an awards ceremony on a Tuesday night. Surely weekend would bet better?

Challenge Show is an interesting category...I can see Love Island winning it which may be quite awkward!

Eh? They've had one since 1989 - the network ITV logo just wasn't used as the main ident nationally until 2002. So wouldn't they have just used the 1989 logo? The logo was used on trailers and endcaps, and in TV magazines, so viewers in regions that didn't take the generic presentation would still recognise the logo.
That lasted more than 4-5 years.

Indeed, the 2008 opening on YouTube shows features it:
And the end of the 2011 opening also features the logos, so it didn't go with the change of theme tune:
So if it featured from the start it lasted at least 16 years.
