News at Ten has been pushed back 5 minutes. I blame Sarah Brown.

Don't forget there is a NTA spin off show on ITV2 at 10pm too. I wonder what they will fill with for the 5 minutes over run.

God if Eastenders win - push it back another 10 minutes ( thanks to Bab's speech! )
Mabye there'll fill it with promos??I think they do it with The X Factor/ Xtra Factor!
You were correct, they did fill it with promos. I used to like what they did with I'm a Celeb and Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Take Away. They used to start the ITV2 show on time (or even early) and have a different camera feed of the main show, so a camera at the side of the stage on AADSNTA or a long shot on IACGMOOH.

Very pleased Corrie won.

You can tell Dermot gets such an adrenaline rush from presenting unlike awkward Sir Trev. Enjoyed the revamp even if it did have a Cowell theme to it Wink

Like someone said a few pages back, did anyone see the big plug for EastEnders? Celebrating 25 years old. No, of course not. We don't want them to win fairly.

We're on ITV, we're going to 'fix' the votes by showing a Corrie trailer, and going on about it, because it is 50 years old. ... And they won the Serial Drama award. Surprise, surprise!!

Thanks Simon Cowell for making the NTA, what was a respectable, tasteful show to watch, into a big reality TV 'X Factor's Got Talent' show.

I am over the moon that Corrie won - totally unexpected as usually they don't get a look at the NTA - so thats makes it all the more exciting!

Eastenders was robbed, last year was a poor year for Corrie - I think Bill's 50 year speech had something to do with it, as the trailer with the upcoming storylines did look good.

As for the show, it was very different and I enjoyed it much more. I actually liked Dermot much more too! Have to say I was a bit sad Arlene never gave us her 'performance' Laughing

Half way through watching the ceremony, and I feel sick watching it. Ever since Sir Trev was replaced, it's been terrible thanks to the horribly bland Dermot and near enough everything related to the X Factor revolving around it.

I think Joe had the wrong song given to him tonight, it was painful to watch.

Wait.....Isn't this the National Television Awards? Laughing Laughing

And that's why award shows don't attract the audiences they used too - the Brits especially. It's ridiculous really the live delay on UK broadcasts is generally at least 5 minutes, but the more prudish US networks can do all the editing they need with just a 7-second delay.

I don't think the 'liveness' of them is something that occurs to the vast majority of the audience let alone discourage them from watching.

No show gets the 'audiences they used to', TV is fragmented. Also people are more cynical about award ceremonies and at this time of year especially we get overloaded by them

Sor-Sorry... but... Dermot... Dannii... Cheryl... Jedward... Joe... how the hell can...

I now consider the NTAs dead. R.I.P...

You have to blame Ofcom for that really.

No, the broadcasters are running scared of the press. Nothing's really changed regulation wise since the ITC.
You need to blame the likes of Mr Dacre

Quote:
I think most shows that are broadcast on a delay started off live but due to something happening (usually pre-watershed swearing) people complain to Ofcom and the broadcaster says they will 'take steps to make sure this doesn't happen again' in return for Ofcom letting them off and that's when they bring in a delay.

How many programmes are broadcast on a delay? I think you'll find there's very few.

It's always been terrible.

I caught a bit of it and couldn't watch any more due to the screaming screeching audience
