So Unless I'm blind EastEnders are the only soap to have won an award or two tonight? Surprised

I think nearly every year since this has started there always seems to be some confusion over how a certain soap keeps winning the award even when it was at its lowest and other were at their best. As it is voted for by the public I think it previously showed that the average viewer couldnt determine a good patch from a bad patch and instinctively kept voting for a certain soap over another soap. I suppose its the type of audience soaps generally attract.

I voted and nearly on all accounts I think the correct programme/person won.

Full list-

Banks then goes on to quote all the winners in the clear like some sort of idiot when it's quite obvious everybody so far tonight has covered them up

It's what we've come to expect.

11.3 million people tuned into Coronation Street last night. If you ever needed to know which soap was the most popular, there's your proof.

We all know that Corrie is the most popular. I had a feeling Eastenders would win it so im not that surprised. Lets hope 2007 will be Corrie's year for awards. Smile

And I cannot believe he has gone and posted the full list of awards after I asked people to put spoiler tags earlier as well Rolling Eyes

No they wouldnt, they only call it a crisis when viewing figures drop to an all time low like they did for EE this year I believe Laughing

Ratings are more important than awards.

Yes, let's get the ball rolling with the BAFTAs. I'm hoping Corrie can regain that award. It's absolutely brilliant at the moment, and if it can keep this quality up throughout the rest of the year (I've seen spoilers and they look good) then next year it should have no problem in succeeding.

They are a very, very accurate estimate.

Who's voting? I can only think some EE executive is sitting at home with some kind of switchboard and jilting the votes. How irritating.

As for the rest, I'll give my final verdict tomorrow night but why did Noel Edmonds not turn up? I can only think he's still not that popular in the "celebrity" circuit and quite a vile little man behind the scenes. Mind you he did turn up last year (with his daughters) didn't he? or was that the Baftas?

EastEnders fans? I suppose unlike Granada, the BBC don't pump out fake hype about their soap. Corrie fans just expect it to win, usually on the back of how great ITV say it is.

ITV might say its great, it doesn't mean it is. The ITV50 fix so they could just boast its the best show ever from ITV has no doubt been believed by the Corrie massive. For most people however, I expect that that show being 'voted' the best ever just shows the rest can't have been that good.

So David Attenborough(sp?) is used as a tedious link and given a special recognition award simply because Steve Irwin died, and Top Gear finally won something -but only because Richard Hammond nearly died. Rolling Eyes

Looks like Paul O'Grady's heart attacks arent enough to secure him a win anymore. The bar has been heightened.

I say it is, so it must be.
