What do people think of this 'Best TV Contender' award, which is basically 'best Big Brother contestant or Carol Thatcher'

Why the hell should a reality tv contestant get an award? I have a feeling Pete will win and I can only imagine how cringeworthy his acceptance speech will be. Time to switch off for a few minutes at that point I think. If I had to choose id like Princess Nikki to get it as at least she was entertaining.

My friend and I have been getting everyone we know to vote Corrie and X Factor so we've done all we can to make sure our fave shows win!

I've voted this year. Can;t recall if I have in the past - I doubt it.

I know I'm always saying these are "meaningless gongs", but I really would like to see Corrie take the award for soap.

Despite the unbeleivable rate they churn out episodes, it really is consistently entertaining and gripping. No mean feat.

Voted for Bradley Walsh too.

I voted Bradley as well, and Nikki Patel (Amber in Corrie) for best newcomer. I hope Bradley wins but ive a feeling it will be David Tennant.

I didnt vote Sue Cleaver for actress as I dont really like her - nothing against her at all but she isnt a fave of mine. Id have preferred Julia Haworth, Debra Stephenson or Sally Whitaker to be nominated. I wont say Barbara because she has mainly dont comedy stuff this year in Corrie so wouldnt really qualify. My vote went to Billie Piper for actress.

Well I think the best chance Corrie have of getting something is Best Soap, I think it could be close between them and EE this year however I wouldnt be at all surprised if EE won again. Rolling Eyes

No wonder it's not live!

Yes, but they could just schedule that award to take place after 9pm. There's noe excuse except there's football tonight.

When did the voting close? Last nights episode is proof of who really deserves that award tonight.

I think it's quite telling how, we've got Noel Edmonds who is likely to win his first NTA ever after years of broadcasting, yet someone like Chantelle is to win one straightaway

They've really sunk to a new low with 'Best TV Contender' - taking what little creditability the NTA's had in the first place. They're pathetic, they might as well just rename it "The National Soap Awards". Rolling Eyes

Voting closed today.

Btw if anyone posts the results remember to spoiler tag them as otherwise people will moan that they know the result before the programmes is on tv. I wont alter the title of the thread either.

I was going to try and avoid the results but I'm too eager to find out now. Pity it isn't live.

I'm using Getty Images to find out. It will be on BBC News once they're over as well.

Re: TV Contender - stupid award, though I hope Chantelle wins over Pete and Nikki. It wouldn't be so bad if they didn't restrict it to reality TV as well - I'm sure there is the odd Deal or No Deal and Countdown contestant who to deserve to be on their just as much.

Re: results - last year I think the results were officially embargoed until around 10pm - I remember the arguments here when someone posted the results!
