Plus the fact that he's not funny...
Can't say I agree with you on that one. TV Burp has me in stitches!

Harry Hill would be good, but no doubt his act would be met with total silence as all the celebs are too busy helping themselves to the free bar, and his career would be in ruins!

I don't find Harry Hill funny either, but I don't rate Trevor McDonald as host very highly either. His attempts at being funny make me cringe every single year.
The awards themselves have sunk to a new low this year. As If it's not bad enough already with the fact that they're almost completely 'Soap' dominated they go and add "Best Reality TV Star".

Agreed.
A live show is unpredictable - who knows what might happen. It's why live TV does well, after all. A live awards ceremony is a good idea, I just can't see why the delay it.

I don't know about everyone else, but part of the excitement of watching a live awards show is the knowledge that something might go wrong at any moment.
Had the NTA's always been pre-recorded, would we have been denied the legendary Finnegan's Tits moment?

I thought it was pre-recorded anyway! ...or am I thinking of another awards show?

It was pre-recorded when it began, then went live, and was live for quite a few years, before being pre-recorded once again last year, and they've decided to keep that this year as well.

Odd decision. It worked better live. Viewers it enjoy it more live. I barely watched last year because I knew who the winners were. I might try to not find out who won this year and then watch it. But I'll have to not use the internet, not watch TV beforehand, or not buy the paper. Yep, will be difficult.
And thats only for 24 hours - it would be impossible to do that for the soap awards which are shown 4 days later.

Well it looks like its 2 1/2 hours long as well between 8.00pm-10.30pm. Half an hour too long I think, 2 hours would be enough especially as it isnt live. Still I expect it will get good viewing figures for the night on ITV1.
We can still vote on the website - the shortlist is up now with the top 4 or 5 in each category.

It will win its timeslot probably, but it won't be as high as it would have been. I think it's because ITV prefer it on a Wednesday, but then move the actual ceremony to Wednesday, surely?

But do ITV actually own the Awards?

No, I don't think so. They 'sponsor' them so I'm sure they'd have some influence on what happens.
