The National Television Awards are being shown on Wednesday 1st November on ITV1.

However it looks like it wont be live again this year as it normally takes place on a Tuesday. A shame as we will know the results before we get the chance to watch it.

Jez is assuming here based on last year, but prior to that it had always been live.

Considering they have pledged the Brits will be live next year, there is no reason why something as tame as the NTAs shouldn't be.

Same goes for the soap awards, where transmission is delayed usually from the Saturday to Wednesday.

ITV should realise that especially with TV awards people are only interested in the results - and if they are revealed prior in the press and on shows like GMTV and This Morning, then viewing figures will be down.

And didn't they used to have a live vote for the best soap or something during the programme - surely ITV aren't missing a money making opportunity.

I assume Sir Trev is still hosting the event. Wouldn't they'd be better off going for someone you believed actually watched TV, like Harry Hill for example?

I suppose it's so they can edit them into a better programme, both for time, and also edit in, winner's reactions back stage and in the case of the soap awards, the red carpet scenes

We've all seen what can happen with live shows, get Johnny Vegas on and before you know it, they have to cut out all the clips, all the speaches and rush from one award to the next

You can't get rid of Sir Trev, it's the only time of year he can have fun and tell his jokes Laughing

Harry Hill would be good, but no doubt his act would be met with total silence as all the celebs are too busy helping themselves to the free bar, and his career would be in ruins!

Yes its Sir Trevor again this year, and I agree you cant get rid of him. He is a really good presenter of these awards and it wouldnt be the same without him.

It being on a Wednesday makes me think it will be recorded as its always a Tuesday when its held.

The soap awards is different though as they are held on a Saturday at around 6pm (as we usually get the results about 9pm) so it wouldnt be a good time to broadcast them.

You can't beat live TV - and apart from the so called fashion experts on daytime TV, who gives a **** about the red carpet scenes?

They only show them on ITV2 anyway apart from a few clips at the beginning on ITV1.

if you have a big dish, just push it to 16E, you will have it live then!

Hope we have more variety in the winners this year at least. e.g. WWTBAM winning the quiz show award for however many years in the past!

For Most Popular Actor and Drama Series it will probabaly be David Tennant and Doctor Who. Most Popular Soap im expecting will be Eastenders because they have won them all this year. However 2007 I think will be Corrie's year.

It's definitely recorded again - it says so on the website. This was introduced last year and it looks like they're keeping it on this year. Such a shame. When will ITV learn? Having the Brits recorded this year taught them a lesson, but they obviously don't think it will be the same with the NTA's. It's always more enjoyable when it's live.

The BBC seem to have all their award shows live, when they have the BAFTA TV Awards they're live - when ITV showed them this year they weren't. I don't understand it.

I sent an email to the duty office last year complaining about it - and they had the cheek to lie and say it's always been recorded - when that's simply not true. It's been live for years, why did they decide to change that now?

The first few years it was recorded then they decided to do it live then last year back to recorded

Odd decision. It worked better live. Viewers it enjoy it more live. I barely watched last year because I knew who the winners were. I might try to not find out who won this year and then watch it. But I'll have to not use the internet, not watch TV beforehand, or not buy the paper. Yep, will be difficult. Laughing
