That was an excellent package of David Dimbleby's best bits. It makes you completely realise how such an important figure of television history he's been.

I'm surprised they failed to include the well known clip of his bedtime alarm going off during an episode of QT!

The special recognition people always are, it’s always someone of a certain age who stopped attending stuff like this year’s ago. Same at the soap awards when someone like Barbara Knox turns up.

Ant and Dec won an award, so we won't be seeing Piers until 2020.

Nahh. I think it’s wrong and winning an award. I know I’ll get criticised for saying that but he’s not been on any tv this year crashes his car (personally didn’t pay his time) and then wins an award. Great role model there... 👏🏼

Nothing says how stale British TV is more than the NTAs. The same winners (from the same nominees) year after year after year

I blame the public, I think perhaps a way of shaking things up would be to have a panel vote for 50% of the vote and the public the rest

Not surprising when one management company has such a stanglehold from what I can see for one channel. Different shows, same presenters and win all the awards.

But I'm sorry to say, this year's awards was an absolute dirge.
