The National TV Awards are being held on Tuesday 25th October 2005 but according to the website they will not be broadcast live this year and it looks like they will be doing what they used to do and showing it the following evening. This is quite disappointing as the best thing about the NTA are that they are live and the results are not known. I wonder why they have changed it? Is there live football the same night on ITV or something?

Anyway we can vote for our faves on the website
http://www.itv.com/page.asp?partid=3843

My votes have gone to;

Most Popular Drama - Desperate Housewives
Most Popular Serial Drama - Coronation Street
Most Popular Newcomer - dont like any of them
Most Popular Quiz - as above
Most Popular Comedy - Will and Grace
Most Popular Reality - Im a Celeb Get me out of here
Most Popular Entertainment - The X Factor
Most Popular Daytime - The Paul O Grady Show
Most Popular Entertainment Presenter - Paul O Grady
Most Popular Actor - Bradley Walsh, Corrie
Most Popular Actress - Billie Piper, Doctor Who

Well, at least it means we'll have no live phone vote so hopefully eliminate the chance of EastEnders winning anything!

My votes:
Most Popular Drama - Desperate Housewives - I'd choose Shameless if nominated
Most Popular Serial Drama - Coronation Street (a tactical vote)
Most Popular Newcomer - Sean from Corrie - but annoying there all from soaps!
Most Popular Quiz - A Question of Sport
Most Popular Comedy - Max and Paddy
Most Popular Reality - Big Brother
Most Popular Entertainment - Saturday Night Takeaway
Most Popular Daytime - This Morning
Most Popular Entertainment Presenter - Ant and Dec
Most Popular Actor - Doctor Who
Most Popular Actress - Caroline Quentin
Most Popular Factual - Jamie's School Dinners
Most Popular Expert - Gordon Ramsey

Nope - Champions Leauge returns next Tuesday/Wednesday and then the following round is the first week of Novemeber.

(While I'm here)
Ahh - The NTA. A totally pointless piece of television which was formally created to provide Grampain Television with an excuse to go to the ITC and say it forfilled it's peak time network television quota.

It is a totally meaningless event, hosted by someone who shouldn't really be doing light entertainment shows, filled with stage managed 'anything can happen' moments , and the award winners can be spotted at 10,000 miles away. Pointless, boring and needless.

If I were a television producer, I would hate to win an award voted for by GMTV viewers and Sun readers. I would want to win awards voted for by my peers in the industry, rather than the great unwashed.

I can't say I'm really bothered about the show not going out live..they're not exactly the most thrilling of award ceremonies are they?. Plus as someone has already said - the NTA winners are usually 99% predictable anyway!

The 'British Comedy Awards' is the awards cermenony of the year imo. it would be a tragedy of that was to go pre-recorded.

But anyway here is my NTA choice....

Most Popular Drama - Don't like any of them
Most Popular Serial Drama - Emmerdale
Most Popular Newcomer - Don't like any of them
Most Popular Quiz - HIGNFY
Most Popular Comedy - The Simpsons
Most Popular Reality - Im a Celeb Get me out of here
Most Popular Factual - Top Gear
Most Popular Entertainment - Friday Night with Jonathan Ross
Most Popular Daytime - Don't like any of them
Most Popular Entertainment Presenter - Jonathan Ross
Most Popular Expert - Jeremy Clarkson, Top Gear
Most Popular Actor - Martin Clunes
Most Popular Actress - June Brown

I wonder who'll get the special achievement award this year - knowing the NTA's it probably be someone like bloody Natasha Kaplinsky!

I think Bruce Forsythe is a strong candidate - IIRC many people here thought he should have got it last year in the wake of his Strictly Come Dancing comeback!

I think Bill Roach or Barbara Knox from Corrie should get it! However I agree it will most likely be Bruce.

I see its all labeled "Most Popular" and not "Best" Rolling Eyes

The choices for Most Popular Expert are poor. Sarah Beeny should be on the list

Yes, sorry, I should have clarified my point.
Just because something is popular, it doesnt actually mean its any good.

Didn't Barbara get a lifetime award for something? About 2 years ago?

Bill Roache or Bruce should get the award this time! Maybe an Emmerdale actor/actress like Richard Thorp or Clive Hornby?
