Put The Telly On
So there we go, the curse of Noel Edmonds returns to the BBC. I have to say, agreeing with some comments, if it wasn't for his professionalism, that show would have been a disaster. Imagine if someone like Mark Durden-Smith was hosting? The mind boggles.

Noel, however, seemed to lack any enthusiasm from his House Party days - he didn't seem to make the studio his own. You can tell he "works" for the people now as apposed to being the big backstage diva he once was. Thats how it seems anyway.

The guy on the NTV game from Kent seemed as if he was being fed the answers through his earpiece, he seemed to know all the questions! Bizzarre reason to how he won, someone must have shouted down Noel's earpiece when they were doing the recap. I'd loved to have heard the gunge claxon go off the moment he won. Laughing

And they didn't even dust off the original BBC Lottery Boogie theme! Laughing

I believe Noel doesn't use talkback and simply takes cues from the floor manager...

The fact he made the show watchable and more less saved it showed what a good presenter he is. Imagine if it was Bruce Forsyth doing it!! Shocked

I think if Noel had more input into the show with Michael Leggo it would have been better.

I tuned in just as Noel clicked his fingers and some poor cow was suddenly live on TV... talk about going back in time!

I got bored very quickly, but most event TV bores the pants of me.

Overall, I think Noel did very well and I for one hope he gets an entertainment based prime time format on BBC1 in the future. He's fantastic on Deal or no Deal but his talents are wasted on just one programme. At the end of the day he's one of Britain best TV presenters and wipes the floor with this new breed of halfwits who think they can host shows.

It was an alright programme but not the best lottery one we've had. Noel presented the programme rather well but was nothing special IMO.
I can see the point of moving the Lottery draws to Lottery HQ but I have to agree that they've lost their life compared to when the presenter would run across the studio, start the launch and then the audience would cheer when the balls come out. Hopefully the draws at Lottery HQ won't be a permanent feature.

As for the new lottery quiz show starting next week anyone got any comments on it? I think it could prove to be quite interesting but I'm not quite sure how it will work with 100 people facing just one.

It is a permanent move, as this press release suggests.
Makes sense for the draws on their own too - I'm thinking the 5 minute 'after the news' affairs, where it'll probably work out far cheaper than a whole studio at TVC.
