Alan Dedicoat's timechecks are terribly cheesy and the "oh its not scripted" banter between him and the host is even worse. Just get on and draw the numbers!

Personally I preferred this era.... ready for a flashback to 1996? Razz Be warned, it may include Bugs... Wink

I wouldn't bring back Anthea Turner however....big head on tiny shoulders.

Alan would do fine if he didn't have to do the timechecks.

OK, I haven't watched since the Noel Edmonds special when they (first) moved the draws to the new studios - where generally they do work better as a seperate show within a show (or on their own as often lately).

Incidentally, from certain angles that set reminds me of Points West's (the ex BBC Three one)

The scheduling of this seems strange with the show airing around 6pm and then a later programme with the draws themselves. Once again they might as well put the draws in a ten minute showand let "The Peoples Quiz" air as a programme in it's own right.

Also, quite ironic that from next week The National Lottery will be sponsoring the programme on the otherside - Vernon Show's Gameshow Marathon!

They annoy me, as do the two 'office workers' who are "checking everything is in order". What a bizarre setup - they sit in that office 'upstairs' and one always picks up the phone when on camera. The other is usually ticking some scorecard. Phoney to say the least.

Has anyone else noticed that when the celeb presses the button to start the draw, it seems to do nothing? The drawmaster or whoever always goes and presses something on the machine itself at about the same time, which would indicate the celeb's button is completely useless and all for show.

If this was 40 years ago, you'd just have the independent adjudicator and the guy start the machine accompanied by a voice over.

Of course that's "apparently" not possible nowadays and you have to have some autocue driven ex-boyband member trying to be funny. Rolling Eyes

Yep - that's the way it happens in most studio sets when a button depressed by a contestant/presenter has to trigger an action. It's very rare that an input device (eg a button or a switch) is wired into the device it's meant to start, and it only does something when the person actually controlling the machine switches it on/etc. Anyway, lottery regulations probably state that a registered person, not a celebrity, has to start the machine.

Why's that? Can the machines bite if they get upset by someone not familiar to them starting the machine? Laughing

The only shows I think are worth keeping is We've Got Your Number, JetSet, and 1 vs 100. The Peoples Quiz is terrible IMO.
