Answer the question then.

Because we know broadcasters did have to pay for the rights at one stage. In which case they'd have paid for the production, you'd think.

However the suggestion from you is Camelot money is going into the production.

It's not a silly question it's never really been made clear to me. If it's silly to you so be it, but give an answer.

The BBC pays around £800,000 a year for the TV rights to the lottery. I would assume any production costs are on top of this, also footed by the Beeb.

I'd expect the BBC commission Endemol to make the show as an indie - so pay an agreed sum for the shows, just as they do other indies. I don't think the BBC pay "production costs" - they buy the show. Endemol will pay the production costs, their overheads and make a profit if they are doing their jobs right.

Lotto have really screwed up this revamp IMO - seems stupid giving away £20m for two weeks on the new Lotto Raffle and only bumping the jackpot to £10m. Would have been better off boosting the jackpot to £20m, even £25m, and giving away £5-£10m on the raffle instead of the usual £1m. Notice too the BBC only mentioned the increased jackpot and three ball prize - no mention of the reduced prizes for other levels.

Well, the chances of winning are tiny, so I doubt it matters that much. I don't care if the prize for five numbers has been reduced to £20,000 or whatever. It's still a lot of money I'm highly unlikely to win. You are quite likely to win the three number prize, though, so that and the jackpot are the obvious ones to talk up.

The Lottery went back to not having an audience this week, although the set was largely the same as last. They gave the illusion of an audience using the crew and fake applause. There was no grand reveal of the machine this week which I thought was a shame but must have been impractical. Apparently it was the last week of 49-1, which will hopefully mean they can move the draw to the end of the programme as it should be, I also imagine they'll be doing Thunderball as part of the show again.

One thing at least a guest pressed the fake draw starting button this week and Chris Evans really does bring a lot of life to the presentation.

Not sure if it has been posted elsewhere but Gaby Roslin is the new presenter now Chris has finished his shows.

Presumably the draw will be quicker too as it will be a part of Who Dares Wins rather than a show in its own right from next week.

I preferred these shows rather than splitting up the draws with in the game show.

It was that which made shows like Who Dares Wins seem to on for an eternity.

I bet Nick Knowles is in hiding after this momentous cock up on The National Lottery: Who Dares Wins on Saturday. At least it has taken the pressure off of Neil Buchanan a bit. Personally I wouldn't want to be either of them this evening.

Based on the fact I had to watch it twice to notice the cock up, I wouldn't call it momentous. Also, I've Googled and searched Twitter and I have no idea what the reference to Neil Buchanan is about.

The cock up is that the female contestant's name is Susan on the graphics (presumably the correct name), whereas Nick Knowles keeps referring to her as Anna. Not sure what the Neil Buchanan reference is either

I have recently started uploading mp4 videos. These do work in JW Player (which is what TV Forum uses to play videos) but it seems that the whole video needs to be downloaded first before it will start playing. I have also noticed this to be the case when other people embed mp4 files on TV Forum too, not just my videos. If you have a slow internet connection or just a slow connection to up.metropol247.co.uk (which is where my videos are hosted) then the video may appear not to be working. This is different to flv videos (which is what I was using previously) and embeded YouTube videos which stream after only a small portion of them have been downloaded.

If you still wish to see the video, you can download it here. Alternatively, I will now use my words to describe the video...

In summary, the video shows Nick Knowles greeting a contestant and calling her Anna while the caption says Susan. I also included a moment later on in the programme where Anna says "I'm not sure of my own name at the moment" which I thought was quite amusing, given the earlier caption mix up. Or...

I believe Nick Knowles is correct in calling her Anna as he goes on to call her Anna several more times throughout the programme and presumably she would have said if he had got her name wrong and the section would be recorded again. I think Nick Knowles actually made the mistake later when he was typing the caption and adding it in post-production. It is also worth noting that a previous contestant was called Susan.

I've Googled and searched Twitter and I have no idea what the reference to Neil Buchanan is about.

22 years ago, Neil Buchanan gave the wrong answer to the question "Who says Yabadabadoo?" while presenting an episode of Finders Keepers. He gave the correct answer as Yogi Bear. I had just assumed this incident would have been more widely known but upon checking The Times Digital Archive, it seems it was not widely reported at the time at all. The video of this can be seen here or downloaded here.

Hope this answers all the questions and I will try to describe videos better in the future.

All in all, a thoroughly waste of time.
