The National Lottery Live is going to be held in front of a live audience for one time only on Saturday 5th October at Pinewood Studios according to the invite I just got from SRO Audiences.

Apart from when it happened last year.

I think you're thinking of the National Lottery Awards, not the live draws. The reason for having an audience is a big relaunch - that date is the first £2 draw.

I am thinking about both, because they both happened live and in front of a studio audience.

The thing is, the original statement ignores the fact that there used to be live National Lottery draws in front of audiences for years, and presumes they won't give in to the temptation to do another live draw with an audience in future.

Last time they did the draws live with an audience didn't they get some unexpected visitors? And wasn't that the reason for ditching the audience?

No the last time they did it with a live audience was last year for the National Lottery awards. It was done in front of an audience for a bit after the Father for Justice invasion. But that incident has been cited as a reason for the change, it's also probably cheaper to run. All lottery quiz shows are pre-recorded now for example, so can be done in one go and in the case of shows that were already recorded they no longer need the higher profile presenter to do the draw as well as the quiz.

It's not been mentioned, but Chris Evans will be fronting the new National Lottery Live programme, for the next 13 weeks. They'll also be a gameshow element called 49-1, with a £50,000 jackpot which I assume they won't be giving away every week considering it's just 15 minutes of television unless Camelot are donating the prize money.
