The main Lottery manchine broke down on Bob Monkhouse once in the mid-1990's, he handled it well from what I remember, but they had to do the draw again after the programme that followed the Lottery, which probably would have been Casualty.

There have been incidents where Alan's said "...any minute now... come on..." while the selector waits for a ball to rest on it.

Is that how the selector works? Is there a sensor on the top that detects when a ball is sitting snugly in it?
