Was it Charles Nove, another BBC Radio 2 newsreader?
I remember back in 1999/2000, when the Red Alert series began (with Lulu and Terry Alderton, and produced by Ginger Media IIRC), Sid Waddell was the Voice of the Balls for the first week of the series. Then, after complaints from viewers, Deadly Alancoat returned as the Voice of the Balls the following week.

Alan never used to be the Voice of the Balls - indeed, there never used to be one! When Noel Edmonds and then Anthea Turner was presenting when it first started, there was no Voice! Only when it returned to TV Centre, was there a VOTB!

Not sure. But who could forget when him, Bob Monkhouse and someone like the Director's wife had broken the machine?

Was this the first out of two times the lottery got delayed? Second being the invasion last year and not including when they don't televise the draws like on the Queen Mothers death.

Steady on, my Uncle directed that show!
Great clip though, more reminders of how brilliant Bob Monkhouse was.

I think he's always been Deadly's dep on the Lottery shows. Seems to do it a few times a year.

Yes, it was Charles Nauve. He's being popping up more frequently as a newsreader on radio 2 within recent months, especially in the mornings.

Col was right, it's spelt NOVE, and he's been a newsreader and occasional overnight presenter on Radio 2 for yonks.

I liked the fact that it was being simulcast on Radio 1. Pity that doesn't happy any more - Judge Jules could re-mix the lottery theme!

No, it's happened before from memory.

There was a slight delay in the Thunderball draw a few weeks back, where the ball selector failed to select. That was a lottery first.
