It would be nice if they did a proper close down on BBC ONE when they do the RBS tests, if only for us anoraks who will be the only ones watching/recording.
Maybe this is an idiosyncracy, but I want the digital 'BBC' channels to closedown with the anthem. Just for tradition's sake.
Am I on my own with this idiosyncracy, or are there others out there?
There were calls for the National Anthem to be reinstated during Jubilee year, but the BBC refused, saying it would conflict with 24-hour broadcasting. Whereas in Germany, the national anthem and overnight transmissions work in tandem.
BBC3 says the National Anthem does not fit in with its audience demographic. It's a shame closedowns on BBC4 can't be more traditional, with "but from everyone here at the Broadcast Centre, this is....wishing you a very good night"; rather than "do join us, goodnight" with the latter often said under the announcer's breath.
