Do the hosts of named shows have any editorial input, or is it just a name?

Surely it depends on the show, but I'm sure all those names will to some extent have some input on who comes on the programme.

Apparently Mary Whitehouse had little or no editorial input in to The Mary Whitehouse Experience.

See also Adolf Hitler and the programme Hitler's Children. He didn't even have a writing credit.

It's too difficult to generalise - I'm sure each person/show will have its own arrangements. I think it's safe to say presenters usually have some sort of editorial say, and I suspect if a programme is named after the presenter they would probably have more input to a greater or lesser extent, as it's their reputation that could be damaged by it. They'll all have different stipulations in their contracts. I remember Huw Edwards saying in a behind the scenes documentary about 12 years ago that he could have his say to a certain extent, but the final decision always came down to the Editor (Mark Popescu, then Editor of the Six O'Clock News).

What an asinine question. If the member wished to know about individual programmes that's one thing - this is rather like the "BBC Studios, I'm totally confused" thread, where he clearly wasn't.

It's a thread for the sake of it.

And FYI, Judge Judy doesn't have editorial control because she's not concerned with that kind of thing if you're interested which you aren't.

Hate it when people get on their high horse over nothing. Don't like Daneil K's threads don't post or look at them! And the BBC News Stuios thread Has 12 pages so people are obviously talking about and my impression was that Daneil K wasn't exactly sure about the studios hence the thread!

I think the difference with the other thread is it was a valid thread but started in a completely moronic way as if this "confusion" was keeping him awake at night sobbing into his pillow.
