Hi.

I'm quite down this morning. It suddenly occured to me last night. A really strong desire to work in British Television. Its killing me! You know my love for UKTV but It occured to me the other day I really really really really want to work on a drama series. Its my dream! I'm someone who's acheived nothing really need to do this. Toruble is living here what are the odds of that?! Its really got me upset for some reason. I thought about contacting some production companies and I pleading my case asking if I could just be on a set and soak up the atmosphere. It'd be my dream to be on a set with anyone like Martin Clunes, Caroline Quentin, John Simm, James Nesbitt. I'd just love to see how it all comes togehter. I wondered if you any ideas how I'd conctact someone and What I could say to them.

Living in California won't bow well and I know a lot of people won't understand why I wouldn't want to work in US TV but I've loved UK TV my entire life and I'd love to return home to the UK. Any advice you can give me I'd be very greatful. I've written a few scripts but at the moment all I want is to be on a set and soak up the atmosphere and be a part of greatest love. Its driving me mad!

If anyone can advise me on who to speak to what do

Take Care
Luke

Very Happy

I suppose I should also mention I do have a disability which means I am sometimes in a wheelchair and walking sticks which means Camera operator, tea maker is pretty much out. I know I keep saying but if anyone can help please get in touch through my PM or reply thank you!

Speaking of pleas:

I really want to work for RTE OR BBC when older. SInce I live in nyc, the BBC set in WNET would be logical.I emailed BBC World to see if I could visit, bu tit was the usual " No, and enjoy your childhood, and don't think about the future". I just want to soak up the atmosphere or something, but I can't. Can anybody pull a few strings to help me?

If you want to be involved in the industry in the UK, then you'll have to get serious about it.

Do your research. There are opportunities for you to learn the trade in the UK, but you need to seek them out yourself. You won't get anything handed to you on a plate, here or anywhere else.

You should have a think about the different trades and crafts involved in film production, and start to focus on what it is (specifically) you want to do.

Many of the various skills involved are *disciplines* which require training and commitment.

Wanting to "soak up the atmosphere" on a set with TV stars is one thing. Wanting to work hard, and being prepared to start at the bottom and do what it takes is another.

Weather aside, a film set in California isn't a whole lot different to one in the UK. I would advise you to volunteer your services locally to get some real experience.

There are courses available in the UK which may be of interest, once you have worked out what you want to do.
