Why is BBC ONE showing a repeat of My Family. Did they schedule too many episodes and had to put it in to fill a gap?

The first ever episode is being shown as I type this, and the quality of the image is different. It has that distracting film effect.

Also, the music is different, Daisy Donovan is the assistant and Zoe Wanamaker's hair is different!

Doesn't seem like an old episode to me. And are you talking about repeating the whole series or just tonight's episode?

It is an old episode, as I have seen it before, and Daisy Donovan was the regular assistant in the first series. The TV Guide says it's a repeat as well.

It might have something to do with Scotland. Because of the football last night on BBC ONE Scotland some programmes were re-shedualed. Tamzin Outhwaite - Goes Wild With Dolphins and Walking With Beasts were shown on BBC TWO Scotland. Kenyon Confronts was shown later at 9:30. That leaves Eastenders. So tonight both episodes of Eastenders were show in one hour long episode from 8:00 to 9:00. Therefore My Family had to be re-schedualed for next Friday. So tonight on BBC ONE they showed a old episode at 8:30 so that they wouldn't have to send a special tape of last weeks episode up to Scotland.

Just a guess.

On BBC One Scotland we had two episodes of Eastenders because of last nights football, incidently that documantary with dolphins wiht the one form Eastenders has been advertised as being on BBC One and BBC Two because of the changes to the schedule because of the football.

Hmm. It seems to me like BBC One are simply repeating the series without promoting the fact they're repeats!

I never saw the first episode so just sat down to watch it unaware it was and thought 'this is different music' and that awful filmy effect and dodgy wallpaper Smile

A quick check on Digiguide reveals that this was indeed always scheduled to be a repeat, as is next week. BBC One having nothing new to fill primetime Friday, except a repeat. A little disturbing...

And talking of disturbing, I've just got in to see that Life After The Street show on ITV1 in widescreen! Jeez, the majority of the programme is clips from previous Corrie episodes of which none are in widescreen! What on earth is the point? Who makes this decisions?!

Cheers, Asa

The Radio Times clearly states it is: 'an episode from the first series of the domestic comedy'. So I don't think anyone is trying to pull the wool over anyone's eyes.

did they change writing teams between series - the new series is much more funny than this drivel they showed yesterday!

Yes I think they did change writing teams. Didn't they have a team of writers like US Sitcoms in the first series and then change to a single writer or something like that?

I saw series 1 of My family on UK Gold and it was crap. But I have really enjoyed series 2- very funny and witty.
