Is it the only EMAP radio station not based in London

Are you talking about national stations? Because Magic 1152, Metro Radio and Magic 1170 are most certainly not coming from London.

I think he meant national stations which aren't Magic or BigCity, if he is wrong there are tons of them.

It is easier for them to replace The Hits Radio with Key 103, as they transmit JK and Joel, Mike Toolan and James Stannage on The Hits and there you have some of the best parts of Key 103.

OOPS yeah I was referring to the digital stations not the local analog stations!

Also, MTV's dedicated Irish feed has begun testing on Sky - at present programmes are the same but ads are all aimed at the Emerald Isle.

Actually I didn't use the word 'official' once! Wink

And I always hate it when I am (or see someone else) directed to an "offical" tread when I post something in a different thread/start a new thread ona subject.

If I see "All New Cribs" repeated on MTV one more time... if I wanted to look at someone's house, I'd look out the window, thank you. MTV/MTV2 are really wearing the Osbournes re-runs thin too.

Bring back MTV Europe, that's what I say.

I saw a Blazin' Squad video on MTV Base the other day, what a disappointment and it does little for the channel's credibility. Never mind that video is played on heavy rotation on MTV Dance. When speaking to a friend the other day, we came to the conclusion that Channel U's playlist reflects urban tastes more and gives more prominence to UK urban music.

Why do TMF feel the need to show SpongeBob, Newlyweds and those VH1 documentaries? They are hardly music related (hands up any Jessica Simpson and 98 Degrees fans in the UK?) and an unnecessary overspill from MTV. And please get rid of MatchMaker while you're at it!

I doubt that P-Rock will make a return as I imagine Scuzz has eaten up its likely audience share, but you never know.

I hope that Sky's music channels won't take the MTV/EMAP route in having themed weeks. The Amp have already had Old's Cool week and Ladies Week, excellent playlists but please don't make a permanent thing of it.

The MTV/VH1 channels at the moment are one of the most cringeworthy things on TV at the moment. They are all terrible, it's such a shame to see that MTV are gradually taking TMF down the route of MTV- it can't be long now before TMF just becomes another MTV. And it's not like the EMAP ones are any better and since they discovered their rotating graphic thing which allows them to have the phone number on-screen all the time, I haven't watched any of them. It's a shame that the days have goen since there was no need to have anything on-screen but the logo, we now also have all manner of useless crap that makes sod all difference to how many people ring up an EMAP channel to request a video or for a "chance" to meed the Blazin' Squad. Oh for the days when the EMAP channels managed to incorporate this into the on-screen playlist. Just like MTV's multicolour "TMF in 01:52" graphic will make sod all difference to how many people will watch it- yet more unwelcome imports from the Yanks.

I still feel that MTV and The Box before it was consumed by EMAP's crap spewing music machine in 1998-2001 was proabably the best time either channel had it and since then it's been a downhill slope due to EMAP's aston craze. MTV totally dumped it's animation slots which provided for me a nice diversion from the videos and The Box earned itself a new aston generator but dumped what made it good, it's crappy graphics. Given a choice between them and the present graphics I'd go for the old ones and finally MTV Extra was killed in favour of MTV Hits... and MTV's astons weren't too bad then either.

I think MTV has gone downhill through 2003.
The graphics and stings that they now use may have a 70's feel, and be nice (breakbumpers are nice and such), though the font used on all promotions and next to the dog is horrible. The astons with those stupid pictures are horrible.
The nicest part of MTV's current presentation is TRL!

Why on earth does MTV Dance tuck away it's vast array of videos - and the decent stuff - on the early hours of Sat and Sun mornings? Okay it's great when (in my case) you get in from work - but surely since MTV Dance is 24 hours "dance" (supposedly), it could put some of the gems it has at other times of the day?

Its all down to viewing figures. MTV Dance gets far better figures when they play pop/r'n'b instead of dance. You'd think they might think about renaming it since it only plays the music its meant to play for a few hours late at night.

But surely with these niche music channels it's not the case of ratings, it's about palying different types of music, even if they don't appeal to many people? I think the ratings have been the problem in killing the MTV & EMAP channels- except the main MTv Channel, I can't imagine what they're showing gets ratings at all. And what about Text Messages, yes they geenrate vast amounts of money but for someone who just wants to sit down and watch music videos- WE DON'T WANT IT!

Which is the best channel & when, to tape videos from ?

I'd say TMF- att he times they aren't showing MTV rubbish, SpongeBob (why the hell is that there?), matchmaker or Message Factory. At that point they are the music channel with least on-screen graphics.

Very bad that TMF are deviating from videos.

Best music channel on Sky was the Box back in Summer 1999 when it had the **** picture quality too and looked all-NTSC. Again, any comps it ran were in the playlist ticker - it was great!

BRING BACK THE OLD BOX!

Might I suggest R: Muzik or R: TXT ME on Rapture TV? Not a single RnB/Urban tune in sight there!!
