A valid point, but UK viewers who first received the channel had that logo - a brand that I grew up with myself. And when it's been in use for over 15 years, it's tricky to see it replaced. I know they often refer to the 'splat' as 'new logo' but the Nick typeface appeared in all sorts of forms, especially the DOGs.

Yes, the white word is the logo and it goes on top of any orange 2D shape. From the link I posted earlier, here's the original logo bible for Nickelodeon:

Nick didn't have the new branding last week, but as of today or maybe yesterday, they've taken the new branding. Logo in bottom left and so on, all In line with some iCarly week.

As stated in the Digital Spy new branding started yesterday, 15th Feb.

Very nice new look & glad that they've adopted it.
Its weird with the logo being in the bottom right, though with a new episode of spongebob currently showing on nick replay, there's a teennick dog in the bottom right, a replay dog in the top right & a new episode dog in the top left.
The only problem is that it's the end of the very nice previous Nick branding & animated info bars, etc.

Very strange that they've only changed nickelodeon, with nicktoons & nick jr keeping their old logos, even though they've been adapted in the US, as seen here http://nicktoons.nick.com/ & here http://www.nickjr.com/.

The Nicktoons and Nick Jr logos will be changed in 2010 Q2, as stated in the article.

I was surprised to find out that nick jr has only recently become a channel in its own right in America, having previously just been a programming strand on the main channel.

I believe they had a channel over there called Noggin, although I think it was a joint venture that Nickelodeon was involved in, but I presume that's ended now because of Nick Jr being a separate entity.

Nick Jr was the weekday morning slot on Nick, and is now called Nick Playtime. Nickelodeon wanted viewers of Noggin to associate the channel with Nickelodeon and so gave the channel the Nick Jr brand.

Apparently there is more tinkering with channel names at MTV from next Monday...

MTV ® to become MTV SHOWS
MTV TWO to become MTV ROCKS
VH1 Classic to become MTV CLASSIC

The (uninspired) logos, which don't yet seem to carry the revised core MTV brand, are on their websites.

EDIT: That link now seems to point to the existing websites, which aren't showing the new logos.

Can't remember the last time I watched the MTV channels (a sign of getting old if anything!) but why change MTV 2? People know what it stands for, but I do think it was better in the days of MTV | 2. MTV Rocks just sounds so uninspired.

Unbelievably poor, especially if those gradients make it on air. Shocked

They strike me as a network that doesn't have the foggiest idea where to go with their brand (probably because their programme strategy is equally confused) and are just sleepwalking from one half-baked set of ideas to the next.
