So, currently on ITV / STV there is a murder she wrote double bill (from season 1 nonetheless).

Now, the picture is a bit fuzzy, however it is definitely not being upscaled. The titles in particularly are very sharp (although authentic fonts / oversized for NTSC) with charmingly not quite naff enough vignette.

Two questions basically
1. why is the picture still quite noisy? Is it just bad lighting?
2. Why can I not find anything about this on the internets?

1. Is it not just cheap film stock? (I know nothing)

2. Because until TNG gets released on Bluray, the internets doesn't have enough space to cover this monumental event.

re: 2. has the TNG remastering began? I presume they've finished TOS remastering then.

Also when are the TOS remasters getting shown on UK telly?

Does anyone here actually still syndicate TOS? Unless they're waiting á la C4 not going HD with Friends. CBS Action is currently butchering TNG so it'd be nice to see a RESPONSIBLE BROADCASTER take over both!

Yes, all TOS episodes including the original non-Shatner pilot have been remastered. I'm not 100% about this, but I think the remastered episodes have already been shown in the UK on one channel or another.

CBS are remastering TNG at the moment - three episodes are being released on Blu-ray later this month as a sampler, with releases of each Season over the next few years, and the improvement in quality is exceptional.

oooh marvellous. I wonder how they'll cope with the infamous black cardboard lighting solution in the first few seasons.

note in the image, the guy who did the cinematography for the first two seasons tended to use too many lights and they had to try and fix the reflections on all the glass lcars panels by using card
