Hey all,

So I'm watching Desperate Housewives on C4+1 and on the first break the sponsor was Dulux yet on the 2nd it was Kinder Bueno. Are things so bad that they have had to get two sponsors? Is this a common practise or am I simple seeing things?

I think you might be wrong, as I caught the start of it and there was no sign of Dulux sponsorship, only Bueno.

Not so common in the UK, but elsewhere multiple sponsors are common - cf. Melodifestival in Sweden which is sponsored by Statoil and a number of other big companies, and much American TV.

The Champions League always plugs two sponsors whenever there's a match on. Both on ITV and RTÉ

This quote was brought to you by Heineken and by Play Station and by Ford and by (the tyre company I can NEVER remember)

Continental is who you're looking for, although I don't recall them sponsoring any UEFA CL games recently, I think Vodafone have took their place. As you say you see the same sponsors on ITV, Sky and RTÉ, I think it's the same across the whole of Europe, it's quite unique really, no other programme or event has this, even when Premier League is showed outside of the UK.

Multiple sponsors? How about 40 in 30 seconds? Arrow Click! (Real Media)

correct - exact same sponsors and exact same programme titles all over Europe - not sure about outside Europe! Weird to see, actually - ITV, Sky, Ned3 and some scandinavian channel showing sponsors and titles at the same time!!!!

Yes - if the BBC had won CL rights, it would have been a tricky issue.

ISTR that there was a suggestion that the BBC would have had to reimburse the sponsors (or their rights fees would have gone up by a similar amount) for not showing their stings in the UK - as otherwise they'd be in breach of UK broadcast law with regard to sponsorship and the BBC?

I didn't think SVT in Sweden (heavily based on the BBC) had sponsorship either - but noticed that there were sponsor stings before the final (but not the heats) of Melodifestivalen. Never seen that before.

watching it back on 4od it appears I was wrong :s Another thing I was thinking about - when Fiat sponsored five for the night, did programmes with sponsors still air their stings or were they replaced with Fiat ones?

Could have been the Dulux ad? Which has the same music as its sponsorship of Ugly Betty you may be confused with.

Well, I do know that when Hollyoaks is shown on weeknights it's sponsored by Wrigleys, but the omnibus is sponsored by Toyota, who sponsor everything on T4.
