Multiple ITV regions on Freeview

A recent retune of my freeview set revealed Tyne Tees is now available from Emley Moor. How is that possible?

Atmospheric conditions?

Don't know. Strong signal and EPG as well.

Have you tried looking in the 800s to see if Yorkshire is there? I've had it the odd time where I've had Wales instead of Granada on 003, with the other being on 800, but luckily this hasn't happened for a while.

As well as picking up alternate regions (mainly North West), I also seem to pick up more than one version of the Welsh channels from Moel y Parc now.

I did a search on a Freeview telly a little while back and the total amount of channels found was over 400! I had to select between West Midlands, East Midlands and Yorkshire regions.

Interesting. I always found it annoying we got all the regions on Sky just as the regional era was dying out. Typical!

I was quite surprised to see some French channels stored recently when I scanned the work Freeview TV. TF1, arte, Eurosport all perfect signal.

My Freeview PVR after a retune always tells me that multiple regions have been detected, but only finds the London area services.

I also had over 400 channels found, however, my Panasonic does not allow you to select a region, I assume, it goes for the strongest signal? It did only give me one ITV in 800's

Some new receivers will allow the owner to scan specific single RF channels only, so in six operations one specific transmitter's services can be accessed only.

Wasn't it the case that after DSO was completed in areas, the transmitters were now higher power which meant regions overlapped. It's still the case in the North West that the Welsh channels can be picked up and mess up the EPG (e.g. C4 appearing on channel 8 as well as channel 4), especially in the radio section where the duplicates are quite close as they're stuck in the 800s.

A Philips Freeview box I had was only capable of storing so many channels which meant after DSO I had to do a manual tuning on it otherwise it lost all channels overnight.
