No offence to you but we actually remember watching this show before 1979. I am sure others on here of a certain age would back this up.

I did ask this Question! can we TRY again then to get the Record straight!
so when did EACH region start show Tiswas? ) or should this get its own thread?
Noiced how they didn't mention the summer fillers e.g. The 815 from Manchester, Parallel 9/P9, On The Waterfront , Up2U, etc...
Is it me or could Swap Shop actually make it in today's world, especially if they kept the original format?
Didn't like any of the summer shows, they didn't start doing those until Get Set For Summer originally with Peter Powell. They really did like using Radio 1 DJ's for those BBC Saturday morning shows.
What a great show. My era was the latter years of Going Live through to Live and Kicking. In fact, I must be the same age as the kids who did Harry Enfield's Old Gits on Andi Peters's Famous for 5 Minutes!
The most emotional moments of the evening for me must be seeing Michael Crawford in tears after seeing the special needs kids ballroom dance to songs from Phantom of The Opera on Going Live, and the end montage of Swap Shop moments to Freddie Mercury's Days of Our Lives.
Great show, its a shame Saturday mornings have changed......now where can we swap Antony Worrall Thompson for TMi?
I'm sure Tiswas had a chequered history on the ITV network that a website (can't remember which one) could clarify quite easily.
Didn't see the programme, but from my growing up perspective God bless Get Fresh (which I saw live at Clydebank ), Ghostrain, Going Live, 8.15 from Manchester, Scratchy and Co, Live and Kicking and the legendary What's up Doc (an STV original - the last major OB to come from Cowcaddens). In these days of 90 channels for kids, we will never see their likes again.
Hmm.I watched Live and Kicking before SMTV started but i watched SMTV from start to finish, although i did start glancing at TSS in August 2003 before it was axed.I watched MoM but when TSS came round again i had a problem. In 2005 i solved this by taping one and watching the other. After TSS Series 4 ended[i think that's probably it now] i stayed with MoM and Saturday Showdown till it ended. Now i don't even bother.TMI's alright but it's a bit...something.I don't really know.
Something worth throwing in that I've suggested before.
ITV may have given up on Saturday mornings, but I think a show in a similar style could be the solution to their afternoon problems - aimed at kids but still with an adult approval, airing around 4-5pm each day.
EDIT: Just seen that Sarah Greene was due to be a contestant on Dancing on Ice, hosted by Mr Schofield, but has now pulled out due to family problems.
take it the programme was recorded in the afternoon judging by the time on the clock in Lenny henry's dressing room (2:20). I'm old enough to remember the first swap shop and tiswas as I lived in the anglia region
