I know Sarah Green cropped up a couple of years back doing features on This Morning (but unfortunately they overlooked the opportunity for her to co-host with Phillip), but as for Emma Forbes I'm not sure what she's doing now.

IIRC Emma Forbes was supposed to be the original presenter of The Big Breakfast, with Gaby Roslin only drafted in at the last minute as a replacement. Anyone know why she was replaced - I thought it might have been to do L&K but according to tonight that started in 1993, while The Big Breakfast started a year earlier in September 1992.

And of course later Gaby's replacement, Zoe Ball, quit the show after just a few months to move onto Live & Kicking. How different things might have been if Emma hadn't got pregnant and had continued to co-host as planned with presumably Jamie Theakston.

Also the pretty much forgotten year of L&K with Steve Wilson and Emma Ledden (IIRC) who replaced Zoe and Jamie but were axed in favour of the four-some led by Katy Hill.

The last era of L&K (and L&K Friday which was some lame attempt to make it 'cool' again) was dire and thats why it was axed so soon. The end of decent Saturday Morning telly was Jamie and Zoe's era. SMTV came close, but the BBC's efforts were always better.

I can;t see the Tiswas programme beening as great as this,

tiswas only got shown in most regions from 1979 onwards ( chris left just after then it went down hill and was dump by Centre)

so there 5 whole years where only ATV land had the pleasure of it, and no one else! so there can;t have a lot special guest talking about the show can there!

Well, they wouldn't be the first programme to have 20 year old "talking heads" reminising about how they watched programmes 30 years ago!

Afraid I have to disagree with you there! However good the BBC's efforts may have been, they had always being held back by Aunty beeb being the caring parent instead of the brother and sister you got to hang out with on a Saturday morning. One morning I was watching the mayhem of SM:TV and on Live & Kicking they were discussing asteroids - woohoo Laughing And that was in the Zoe & Jamie era!

SM:TV - the longest running, most awards and best. Thank you Very Happy

Check your facts, yes it was pratically Networked by 1979 after the ITV Strike, but many ITV Regions had been showing it since 1976, I think Granada was one of them. Chris Tarrant left in 1981, as he went to do OTT which came on air in Central's first weekend in 1982, by the spring of 1982 Tiswas was axed. Many would say the 1981/2 series of Tiswas wasn't great after the departure of Tarrant, Henry, Gorman etc.

If the guy who runs Tiswas Online is about, I'm sure he'd gladly tell you more in detail.

I can certainly remember TISWAS, in Granadaland (now ITVGranada) at the same time as Swap Shop starting - unless of course my dad was able to turn the TV into ATV!

Many happy memories there from going live and L&K , also evident is the poor quality of the saturday programmes today!

The current forms did get a mention, just not an indepth look. I remember Jamie and Zoes era very well, and belive this was the last *decent* saturday morning show. As the next gen Live and Kicking with the three presenters was awful.

Anyway here is another video from the show, looking at the more recent shows:

To add to that, heres another of the sketch with Chris Moyles.

HTV West showed Tiswas very early on in its run. The first year they had "live" highlights, dipping in and out of the show during the morning. Chris would actually say goodbye to our "viewers on HTV ". The following year HTV showed the whole show, I would say that was about 1977.

I think the only ITV station not to take the show was Channel and they would open up just before World of Sport at around 12.12pm.

As I understand it only the last series of Tiswas was shown by Ulster Television.

Swap Shop was the programme that planted the broadcasting seed for me, and tonight was a great trip back in time.
