What a fantastic show, and obviously recorded as-live which just made it better. It makes me cry out for a show like this permanently prime-time. Not a Swap Shop type thing of course, but a live unplanned show. I know theres Baddiel and Skinner unplanned, but its not quite the same. It should be more manic.

Is there a reason why BBC Two have a BBC DOG at the moment? I thought BBC Two only showed DOGs during the Learning Zone etc?

You'd have to check the appropriate thread, but for some reason on the BBC's Ashes coverage, they stick a grey BBC DOG on the screen, I'm not sure why.

Isn't it funny how Swap Shop, Superstore, GL and L&K really show up today's efforts of children's Saturday morning TV - what little there is. It goes to show that TV bosses should really go back to basics and start from scratch, again, with Saturday mornings, then possibly they would have a future hit once more!!!!!

The only modern show to come close to the old style Saturday morning shows was SM:TV Live! and that finished a good few years ago!!

IIRC didn't John Barrowman also present SMTV for a season, as well?

Noiced how they didn't mention the summer fillers e.g. The 815 from Manchester, Parallel 9/P9, On The Waterfront , Up2U, etc...

Is it me or could Swap Shop actually make it in today's world, especially if they kept the original format?

Or Fully Booked. That was a bit of a flop when they rebranded a few years back though didnt it.

With E-Bay around it's a wonder something hasn't resurfaced. I don't think the BBC would get away with it, but if ITV could see a possibility of making money they'd snap it up.

Agree with the majority that it was criminal to cut it short before Zoe and Jamie on Live and Kicking, especially as they had her dad on earlier! Also, the "celeb fans" weren't really neccessary! The Saturday Show was forgetable but I think Dick and Dom were worth a mention. A mention of the inferior summer fillers would have been nice too just for a complete story.

More than anything though I just hope someone at the BBC has watched it and thinks that BBC1 is the place for Saturday morning TV and give TMi the slot it deserves.

Let's face it - I can't see Anthony Worall Thompson hosting "It started with Saturday Kitchen" in 30 years time!

That was a great trip down memory lane. I remember Swap Swap thru to Live & Kicking. John Craven & Cheggers still have the gift of the gab I see.

What does Emma Forbes do now? I know I last saw Sarah Green on a travel programme on Sky!

Personally, I think Live & Kicking was the last decent kids morning show onthe BBC. However I think current show, TMi, has great promise.

I know I'm 35 but I think the worst morning show I've seen on the BBC was The Mighty Truck of Stuff. Dire show, dire host.

That was brilliant! I especially loved the L&K bit, but I'm biased as it's the only show I really remember (just, just about remember Going Live, but only just). The new 'We Don't Do Duvets' sketch was like being in 1995 again.

I think they should have done a bit on the Zoe and Jamie era, especially as Fearne Cotton mentioned how much of a fan she was of it, and it was the last time the BBC ruled supreme in the Saturday morning ratings until Dick and Dom arrived. But to be fair, had this been made five years ago there'd have been no way they'd have done anything on Live and Kicking (even if it hadn't still been going), so I'm still glad they did.

Great show all round!

The current forms did get a mention, just not an indepth look. I remember Jamie and Zoes era very well, and belive this was the last *decent* saturday morning show. As the next gen Live and Kicking with the three presenters was awful.

Anyway here is another video from the show, looking at the more recent shows:

Wow, this thread has been busy tonight! Great show, can't wait for ITV's version of the Tiswas reunion - I wonder if presenters from other shows such as SMTV will also come back for this?

Great show that was. Loved seeing Trev & Simon again; liked how when the "We don't do duvets" sketch had ended, they continued to muck about on camera in the background for a bit, behind John Craven!
