One 1974 edition of Blue Peter came from the sets for Tom Baker's Who debut 'Robot', which was in studio as well at the time.

I remember an edition of Swap Shop 'spoofing' Breakfast TV or what they were expecting breakfast tv to be. (I think they called it AM UK ?)

Does that edition still exist in the archives? What was the transmission date?

By the way, who prefered the first Swap Shop set, as recreated on the show, or the second & final one with the circular desk?

Who's bright idea was to make it 2 hours 10 mins? I can only get 2 hours on a recordable DVD!

Can't you alter the setting to make it fit on to a DVD? The quality shouldn't be harmed too much?

It won't play back on a normal DVD player if I do that!

How odd! I guess it depends on what sort of player/recorder you have Sad I read above that there's a shorter repeat on soon which might fit?

I changed the recording speed to fit it on. Got 6 hours when you do it as super long play.

I liked all the sets - I used to (try and) recreate them in Lego... Embarassed

so did I, recreated the late late breakfast show set as well as other tv sets, but I was mad on tv production at the time, even made little lego camera and boom mikes. shame I never photographed them.

The reason super store was in the playschool studio was because they were renovating all the studios. The late late breakfast show came from the top of the pops studio at the same time

I remember all those strikes the BBC had in the late 70's, they even spoofed the music strike on the muppet show where it ended with just Ralf on the piano instead of the full orchestra

Actually Superstore came from the Play School set because of a scene shifters strike at the BBC meaning one time Blue Peter came from a totally bare studio and they sat on cushions one of the presenters brought in.

Lots of industrial action in the 70's and 80's actually meant an edition of Swap Shop not going ahead!! Shocked

I stand corrected, thought it was due to renovations. Interesting when the BBC had strikes they just muddled through in empty and borrowed studios rather than go off air, wonder if they'd do the same today, stick Blue Peter in the TMI studio or something. Not many live show left to do that with.

TV Centre used to be a real hive of activity in the 70's and 80's. You'd hear stories about Dad's Army in one studio, Parkinson being recorded in another and all of the stars in the canteen. It must have been magical.

In fact the bit in the programme showing a clip of Noel walking out of the studio should have continued because he went next door to the studio where It Ain't Half Hot Mum was being rehearsed.

Still won't play back on a standard one speed DVD player though!

(My setup is one of these BUSH VCR/DVD RW jobs from Argos that only takes 1x - 2x discs & they're a pain in the bum to find at the best of times, plus, depending on the brand/mood of the recorder, bloody disc errors occasionally too!)

Play it on the DVD recorder.

Anyway, has anyone seen Tiswas Online Forums?Dick and Dom get respect they don't deserve and the ministry of mayhem and saturday showdown don't get the respect they do deserve.OK,they had ups and downs but now ITV1 have handed the ratings to BBC1 and just sticking kids shows on is nowhere near enough.

That's what I do anyway!

I have to keep recording on a compatible speed in case of the odd occasion someone wants to borrow the DVD!

The only alternative is, with a bit of notice of course, is to knock off a temp tape copy for loan!
