I just saw an advert on one of the MTV channels (Hits, I think) for TRL London...starts August 19th at 4.30pm.
At last, MTV UK is finally getting some of its appeal back by making British programmes instead of US imports.

Presented by Dave Berry; Id rather see Abbie Eastwood; that reappeared last week; hadnt seen her for ages!

Digital spy said that it was broadcasting from the mtv studios; i thought it was broadcasting from leicester square!

It also says that the head of mtv uk & ireland says that its the biggest uk programme that they ever created!

Looks rather good actually! The fact that it's shown on MTV across Europe as well should keep the standards high!

And yes, it will be from Leicester Square. There was an article on BBCi about it the other week.

About time too. MTV looks terrible at present, in more ways than one.

So MTV turn back the clock and give us a slightly different version of MTV Select.

I miss MTV Select. It was really quite good. TRL sucks Twisted Evil

I like the title of the topic as MTV play an osbournes series two marathon. Rolling Eyes

I wish MTV would bring back Most Wanted. That was great.

In fact why don't MTV seem to want to bother with Prime Time anymore. Another big budget show that will probably suffer from poor ratings due to viewers not home from work, college etc.. If they put this on at 8pm and aired in across europe it would at least be heading towards the direction of MTV's golden era.

But would they be able to get Ray Cokes back to host it . . . ?

Tricky one, If it is pan-european then he might with the right offer. Watching the compliation show that was on MTV last year he did seem bitter about being blamed for the trouble on the Hamburg (I think) show, it was near a red light district. The show he hosts on Arte seems to be quite well made and at least is about serious music unlike the pap he would have to fawn over if hosting an MTV show these days.

MTV Hits did a Kylie Minouge Top 10 tonight - and, very surprisingly for MTV Hits of all people may I add, they gave credit to 3 of her 80s tracks - the Locomotion, Better the Devil you Know and I Should Be So Lucky. I'm amazed that they missed Ba ck in Time,Hand On Your Heart and Tears on My Pillow but on the other hand I've got to say it's an improvement.
