They could rebrand two of the channels with the CMT brand and NickMusic brand.
As for Club, it'd make a better home on MTV Base, giving it a similar format to the recently launched Club MTV in Australia

As for NickMusic and CMT, they could expand those brands to our market and give viewers more choice.

Wasn't MTV Dance/MTV Base in its Sky digital days a merged channel anyway? (I briefly remember MTV Dance was a part time channel and it was a dance channel?) these days the playlists are diluted that much you could tell the difference (except MTV Rocks/MTV2)

CMT - that brings me back memories and that again in its heyday was beside MTV/The Box/VH1 ... saying that I guess Channel 4 will be making its move in the cull?

NickMusic would be popular with the kiddies and their parents.

That's a target in particular which makes heavy use of things like YouTube and Spotify..

MTV Music might look like a strange name, but one has to realize MTV doesn't.mean Music Television anymore, hence why the Music Television tag has been removed
It's still a lot better than MTV Shows..

As for MTV playing again music.. don't make me laugh

Still, there's probably too overlap with MTV Hits

Hopefully MTV Music will be now more used as a new home for Rocks and Club genres.. maybe

ViacomCBS has a history of rebranding channels in a bizarre way or rather useless way, especially when it comes to Club MTV, but I also think of things likes NIcktoonsters..

There's no market for country music in the UK other than through cheap, weird, niche Irish channels.

Closing these music channels are presumably just a way of consolidating the diminishing audience for music TV. They'll all be gone in a few years.

I rather be proved wrong but if that does ring true it would be coincedental that MTV and The Box (or what name comes from Channel 4 for it) as they two existed besides each other on cable.... par VH1 gone now...

Thanks, Debbie Downer.

What?

Debbie Downer, also the name of the popular SNL character, is a slang phrase which refers to someone who frequently adds bad news and negative feelings to a gathering, thus bringing down the mood of everyone around them.

Er, ok. I'm quite aware of the term, it just didn't warrant use given the context of the posts.

Probably Channel 4 will join the club soon.. for me at least they should/could rebrand 4Music into something like 4Comedy and then moving the 4Music brand to the newly owned channels..

But let's not forget that the MTV music channels are even more niche than the C4 music channels, being behind paywall

Maybe 4Fun could be the new name?

Yeah, there were rumours about something like that

Definitely makes more sense than leaving 4Music with the deplorable branding it has now

I mean, MTV could go niche and launch a K-Pop channel for all I know

That would be more of a disaster than Trace Latina!

Way off topic but they've never even bothered to update the 4Music logo on the interactive service on Freeview (which links to three more channels). Think it's two years in September since the logo changed.

I guess though both with MTV and 4Music if they ever did rebrand their main channel to be programming only and launched a spin-off music only channel it would only be a matter of time before programming crept on to their new music channel too.

If there is a need for CMT to be reintroduced in the UK market (an European version was available in the mid 90's), they could test the waters and add it to Pluto TV.

Channel 4 may have to face some financial issues and as a result, budget cuts, due to the pandemic, closing 4Music could be an option. https://www.channel4.com/press/news/channel-4-sets-out-financial-plan-navigate-organisation-through-impact-covid-19-crisis

That version timeshared with JSTV after 7pm. Modern day CMT in the states is like all other music channels today showing repeats instead of playing music.
