It's still a lot better than MTV Shows..

As for MTV playing again music.. don't make me laugh

Still, there's probably too overlap with MTV Hits

Hopefully MTV Music will be now more used as a new home for Rocks and Club genres.. maybe

ViacomCBS has a history of rebranding channels in a bizarre way or rather useless way, especially when it comes to Club MTV, but I also think of things likes NIcktoonsters..

They could rebrand two of the channels with the CMT brand and NickMusic brand.
As for Club, it'd make a better home on MTV Base, giving it a similar format to the recently launched Club MTV in Australia

As for NickMusic and CMT, they could expand those brands to our market and give viewers more choice.

But is country music popular in the UK?

I don't think so.. I think there will be no replacement for these channels in the UK, although I might be wrong

I'm sure NickMusic would be popular with the kiddies though.

As for country music, it's had a strong presence in the UK so surely CMT would be a welcome addition to any country fan's TV guide.

Oh don't get me wrong and I understand MTV doesn't stand for Music Television but still I think some like me still would call the channel Music Television Music lol .... yet its strange with them using other channels and reviving the logo on screen ie MTV 80s/MTV 00s

I do agree though I can't see MTV playing music but I believe they have been slipping in music themed charts again during the day? (not sure if now) but it was mentioned previously though,,,

As with getting rid of Rocks and Club MTV -- I just think they'll just get rid or hardly play anything from MTV Rocks on the other channels it'll just be the same playlist we see on the other channels (surprise me!)

Maybe going back further in time but even VH1 in its heyday played rock music but at times it was shoved late and forgotten about and even before the revamp it was tried and failed)

MTV doesn't.mean Music Television anymore,

Considering the amount of channels with a music focus that carry the name, I wonder what else it could possibly mean.

It's a "crystallized" brand which doesn't mean "music" anymore

Even if we, in Italy, when still had the channel on DTT in particular (but still now) we used to called it "merda TV" lol

There's no market for country music in the UK other than through cheap, weird, niche Irish channels.

Closing these music channels are presumably just a way of consolidating the diminishing audience for music TV. They'll all be gone in a few years.

What?

Debbie Downer, also the name of the popular SNL character, is a slang phrase which refers to someone who frequently adds bad news and negative feelings to a gathering, thus bringing down the mood of everyone around them.

Wasn't MTV Dance/MTV Base in its Sky digital days a merged channel anyway? (I briefly remember MTV Dance was a part time channel and it was a dance channel?) these days the playlists are diluted that much you could tell the difference (except MTV Rocks/MTV2)

CMT - that brings me back memories and that again in its heyday was beside MTV/The Box/VH1 ... saying that I guess Channel 4 will be making its move in the cull?

Probably Channel 4 will join the club soon.. for me at least they should/could rebrand 4Music into something like 4Comedy and then moving the 4Music brand to the newly owned channels..

But let's not forget that the MTV music channels are even more niche than the C4 music channels, being behind paywall
