Does the new on-screen DOG have "Music Television" under "MTV" as I thought they ditched that a while back? Or have they brought it back?
According to Wikipedia, the new UK branding uses a very similar on-screen identity to MTV Adria - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MTV_Adria

It does but you'll have to squint really hard to see it. I don't think the 'Music Television' tag has ever been officially ditched. Granted it didn't appear in the last set of DOGs but it did in the logos used at the end of the cartoon stings.

Judging by everything in that Creative Review article, the refresh looks very nice.
They just need to sort out the programmes now.

I think MTV UK has become really really bad in the past few years - when I was at school all I can remember seeing was a lot of music videos - anyone remember MTV Select?? But now it's endless rubbish shows - mostly American - that have been shown so many times its unreal.
MTVN HD is how MTV One should be - all about the music and live performances.

What's baffling is they now have a dedicated entertainment channel hidden in the Entertainment section of the EPG in the form of MTV® which they fill with exactly the same guff as MTV (One).
If they put a bit of effort into raising awareness of MTV® (I'd bet many aren't even aware of its existence) perhaps then they could get their flagship channel back on track.

I've never understood this practice on music channels to display the name of the programme constantly, but then I'm presumably not a member of whatever the "target audience" which someone mentioned above is. Having it in one corner is one thing, though - an opaque turquoise "progress bar" stretching half-way across the screen is another.
The boxed MTV DOG is hideous. They might as well get rid of the words "Music Television" because even if I sit a couple of feet from my HD upscaling telly, it's just a broken line to me. One good thing is that it seems to become translucent during the adverts - but that's not really enough to redeem it.
I actually quite liked the MTV One brand, personally - at least there was consistency with the other channels.
