According to Digital Spy thread, anyway. From Wednesday 1st July MTV One and MTV One +1 will be renamed MTV and MTV +1 respectively.

To quote Sky TV Freak;

Well a couple of weeks short of this 2 year shamble of a rebrand will end! Shame the extremely out of date reality sh*t won't be binned as well. Mad

Anyone for a new look? or will it simply be selecting the 'ONE' and pressing delete?

Well it was a naff idea which was never going to stick long term so I'm not surprised.

I think MTV was too strong a brand to be changed to MTV 1. It's a good decision.

Wouldn't be surprised to see a new look of sorts. 1st July is MTV UK's birthday and past revamps have happened on this date - plus it's a bit boring at the moment.

The One rather diluted the brand.

Rebranding MTV as MTV One was possibly the biggest mistake they ever made. The on-screen presentation is completely rubbish. I hope there's a new look for the MTV Channels.

So they reverted back to MTV this morning. Nothing radical, the MTV logo now finds itself in a white square (not rounded like the last logo, just a bog-standard square) and the cartoon characters have disappeared. No changes at all to the other MTV stations.

There's also an opaque grey timebar which sits alongside the equally opaque DOG. But it's far too long and fills with bright blue as the programme progresses. It disappears before it reaches the end, making the whole thing somewhat redundant. A bit like the channel's name then.

Here's a very quick mock-up:

Much as I 'get' DOGs, and understand why they are used, I have yet to figure out why the MTV channels feel the need to have the name of the programme in the top corner as well.

I still think that MTV is nothing the like the channel it should be.
