Sadly, these days MTV is a shadow of its former self (oh for the great days of MTV Europe again!) I'm not even sure the anniversary is being acknowledged by them today, but 50 points to anyone who spots a playing of either of the above mentioned songs on any of the MTV channels today (probably most likely on Classic).

The anniversary was recently marked on MTV Classic, with various themed programmes.

I remember the celebrations for the 25th anniversary on the main MTV channel, when it was still a music channel. Just shows how much MTV has changed in just 5 years.

Shame Virgin got rid of MTV Classic. VH1 Classic in the US is having a celebration for the 30th anniversary because their viewers grew up on 80s MTV, rather like when More4 celebrated Channel 4's 25th anniversary, although Channel 4 did celebrate it with the day of classic idents.
