I'm not sure if this is majorly general knowledge or not, but February 1st sees a couple of major changes with MTV UK & Ireland.

The main 'MTV' channel, as we know it at the moment is being moved from the Music section of the Sky EPG, to the Entertainment section. It's also rebranding itself as an entertainment channel.

What you may not have noticed, is that on the very same day a brand new channel is being launched, to replace 'MTV Shows', and what is it called? MTV MUSIC.

Despite the fact this means it'll be called Music Television Music, it is being touted as the new flagship music channel, and will show music videos, interviews and live performances 24/7, just as MTV used to be.

The channel will launch in the old 'MTV' slot of 350, and MTV Shows will cease broadcast.

About bloody time if you ask me! I just hope we change over to the American version of the logo, as I think it looks a lot smarter than the older logo with 'Music Television' underneath.

Are you kidding!? That logo is awful! Nothing was wrong in just removing "Music Television" but the unnecessary cropping of the logo is just stupid. It looks like it hasn't finished loading or it's hiding behind something.

I think it looks much better.

I have to agree with Larry, they could've removed the MUSIC TELEVISION bit from below the logo and left it at that,
since the main MTV channel has not been a music video channel for quite some time now. I can certainly think of
one other M word that MTV can use to reflect the target audience of their main "entertainment" channel!

What M word is that then?

Just saw a promo on MTV Rocks announcing that MTV's moving to channel 126.
Which is Comedy Central's current spot.
So I guess that means Comedy Central will be moving to 127 (which is CC+1 now) and that MTV+1/CC+1/CC Extra+1 will be taking up 159/160/161 then.

Comedy Central is moving to 112 as discussed in the Sky Branding thread.

It's all change next week, Sky 3 is the next casualty. It's gone! Becoming Pick TV! What are Sky at!

A wonderfully irrelevant post.

And anyway, how is this a bad thing? The MTV Shows aren't going from our screens, and we get the MTV of old back.

That doesn't happen until the end of Feb. It seems the new Sky 3 logo will be used for all of four weeks!

The change doesn't seem to have happened fully on Virgin - MTV in the music section is showing programmes and there's no 'MTV Music' anywhere.

I thought there was an MTV channel down at the top of Entertainment but there isn't now
