Can anyone help me clear up a bit of a mystery? I noticed that, in the past term at uni, the TV screens in one of the bars started showing something called MTV 2 Pop. My friends and I reached the conclusion that MTV 2 had given up on the whole 'alternative music' thing and started showing mainstream stuff at night. When I returned home from Uni, though, I noticed that MTV 2 was still showing alternative music 24 hours a day. So, what exactly is MTV 2 Pop and, more to the point, where is it, if it's not a part of the usual MTV 2???!Confused

Isn't it a European version?

We have MTV Hits here, so I presume MTV2 Pop is their version. Its probably coming from Astra 19.2°E or from 13°E. I would suspect it is an old analogue system.

Has MTV UK/IRL actually left analogue?

If it has then, this could be its replacement.

Thanks - that clears that one up nicely! I'm sure the receiver in the bar is an old analogue one - everyone at the Oxford Union is far too busy embezelling funds for themselves to splash out on a digibox;)

The last bit's not actually true, by the way - just in case anyone from the press is reading...!

MTV Pop is a channel aimed at the German market and was launched to replace the loss making VH1 Germany. MTV 2 in most parts of Europe is just the same as the UK one, in fact MTV 2 Europe is the official channel in the UK anyway, considering UK is in Europe Smile

It's basically like an MTV Hits really.
