Funnily enough I was watch the HTV ITV50 programmes last night.

Best not to try ringing Alan, either.

He, sadly, passed on about ten years ago, over in Spain.

I must admit I only remember the Derek Batey version.

What years did each version run from?

I have a vague memory of a Derek Batey lunchtime chat show being shown in the Midlands.

Is my memory cheating?

No, your memory isn't cheating. The chat show was called "Look Who's Talking", which ran from 1972 to 1986, and it was Border's other notable networked programme. Basically, it involved DB interviewing a star guest, whose identity was kept a secret until the show had started - hence the title.

The Border version of Mr & Mrs ran for 21 years, from 1967 to 1988. Nick might be able to help with regards to the HTV one.

The final series of the Derek Batey version ran weekdays at 9:25am in the summer of 1987, following the end of ITV Schools. At this time there was no soundproof booth, just a chair on the side of the set.

Wasn't there a winning couple once who admitted cheating by answering the first answer alphabetically each time?

Major Charles Ingram had nothing on them.

Sadly he did have a chat show (name has been lost in the ether, but I'm sure it's in an old IBA yearbook).

Rather sad that original poster can't remeber tv show (retires, feeling old and sad that I can!)

Derek Batey's chat show was Look Who's Talking. Occasionally it used the same set as Mr & Mrs, and I remember my confusion and dismay on one occasion that the Mr & Mrs "soundproof booth" wasn't being used for its correct purpose!
