Didn't HTV West also take a turn at making this programme. Can't remember whether Derek Batey was still the presenter though. For some reason in the very dark reaches of my mind I recall the programme being shared between the two regions for an unknown reason. Except the set was better when HTV were doing it.
I could of course have imagined the reason for this entire post

Indeed, TWW and later HTV West produced the programme for half of each year.
The presenter down here was my old mate Alan (the monocle) Taylor.

There was no "final" round. Each show had three pairs of contestants. The questions were asked as outlined. If the contestants got six out of six they won a jackpot. This started at around £100 and increased each time any couple failed to get six out of six. Border and HTV both did local versions before the network series began. When the network shows started the presenters alternated series to series before Derek Batey became a fixture. And, incidentally, and ironically given the latest news about Border's possible demise, the first network Mr and Mrs series with Derek Batey as host was a Border/Tyne Tees co-production, recorded in Newcastle as the Carlisle studios were still monochrome only at that stage.

Has there even been gay version called Mr, & Mr ?
SO
I think you're thinking of the LWT "End of Part One" spoof of Mr & Mrs, which was called "Mr & Mr & Mrs", in which the woman contestant had two husbands. The logo at the start was perfectly replicated to read "Boredom Television", complete with the classic Border Chopsticks!
More recently, in the Julian Clary era, I think there were plans to have gay and lesbian couples on the show, as well as hetereosexual ones. We never really got to find that out, though, as the show was pulled early in its run.

Better not in that case...
Funnily enough I was watch the HTV ITV50 programmes last night. It was disappointing the clip featured did not show the soundproof booth (which as I recall had a door which was manually slid shut by the hostess).

Ring Derek Batey.
He'll want a fee for using his format, though.

In the Border version, the soundproof booth was located off-set. Reputedly, the audience took up so much room, there was hardly enough space left for the set.
Border (and one-time Tyne Tees) announcer Pat Doody did the opening voiceover for the Border version, and its producer was William Cartner, brother of Border announcer Allan Cartner. Ironically, Allan was to finish his announcing career at Tyne Tees.

Point of pedantary here, but the booth may have been off set, but it was was in shot for most of the show.
One of Derek's perma-grin bevvy of beauties used to have the uneviable task of getting them out of it removing the headphones and dragging them down to where the Batey stood and prowled.
Given most of the contestants were over 50, and wearing 1980's 'practical' nylon based fashions, the risk of a static electric shock to the hostesses must have been quite high...

I do remember that now that you've mentioned it. It's been a long time since the Derek Batey version of Mr & Mrs was last on air so of course my memory is bound to play tricks....
