Kelly Brook and Ugly Betty star Alan Dale have been confirmed as ITV’s big new names for comedy Moving Wallpaper.
The show, which stars Ben Miller as producer Jonathon Pope and his production team, will no longer be based around sister-show Echo Beach. Instead, all the characters will be focusing on producing a horror movie which will star Brook and Dale.
Echo Beach, a soap based in Cornwall which starred Martine McCutcheon and Jason Donovan, was axed due to low ratings earlier in the year. Both connected shows launched in January on ITV1 for 12 weeks.
The new horror movie, titled Renaissance, is said to be a “ridiculous” spoof based on two people caught on a plane that is attacked zombies. It should be a welcome humerous addition as a one-off special presumably at the end of Wallpaper’s run.

Personally it's a great move, hope Renaissance is in the vein of Shawn Of The Dead, or just in the vein of ''it's so bad its good''.[/quote]

Glad to see ITV had sense to recomission Moving Wallpaper, it was quite an original idea, it was funny and it had potenial, they've done the right thing by dropping Echo Beach, but they should have stuck to the original plan of having MW on ITV1 and EB on ITV2. it could have success too.

Plus having it on at 9.00pm on a Friday night didn't help things, it did better when they gave it that slot on a Thursday.

Wasn't the original plan the other way around (MW on ITV2, EB on ITV1)?

Watch 'Larry Sanders' - or even '30 Rock'. Far superior.

I have to say good news to hear Moving Wallpaper is returning albeit with a twist. I thought the show had potential, and was entertaining but was let down by its poor sister show that it was based upon aka Echo Beach.

This was a great idea. Having a sitcom and a drama linked togther didn't work, Moving Wallpaper should have been linked with another comedic or tongue in cheek show. I think Moving Wallpaper will work much better second time around.
