This Morning's resident showbiz queen Alison Hammond is set to land a daytime show of all her own.

Alison, who made her name with Big Brother , I'm A Celebrity and later This Morning, is reported to have been given the green light to front an hour-long afternoon chat show by ITV.

Happy Hour will see Alison chat with famous mates, as well as featuring make-overs, exercise regimes and lifestyle segments.

I'm quite happy to see this. She is own of the few interviewers that can make a celeb interview seem fairly natural and relaxed.

Congratulations to Alison! Hopefully she'll do well in the ratings.

After the cancellation of Jeremy Kyle, someone mentioned the idea of Alison hosting a Wendy Williams style show in the 9:25 slot. I personally think this would have been a brilliant move, but I’m happy to see Alison with her own show nonetheless.

Alison's probably the most successful Big Brother contestant ever, are any of the others still around in the public eye? Most of them vanished quite quickly.

Adele Roberts, also from BB3, has a daily show on Radio 1.

The thing is Adele didn’t really arrive there from Big Brother. She was already a local radio presenter and spent years on the same station after her unremarkable stint in the house and although being on Big Brother probably helped her media CV her progression was more natural than “we’ve just signed your favourite reality star”. Kate Lawer arguably did better than Adele as a direct result of being on Big Brother, she’s not got the biggest profile now but still has constantly worked as a direct result of her appearance on the show. Of course the biggest star of that series would probably still be very much in the public eye had she not died.

You could also argue in some ways Brian Dowling was very successful but in a less consistent way.

It's hard to say for sure though - her star was very much on the wane after the racism row, and her profile only really recovered as as result of public sympathy due to her illness.

I agree. I still think she would have lingered around a bit like Katie Price or Kerry Katona but probably somewhat villainised. But of course it’s all hypothetical.
