I agree, id like to see Vernon present the show!

For many people Richard and Judy were This Morning so it wouldnt be right not to include them in any celebrations for the 20th anniversary in the Autumn. For me This Morning was never quite the same once Richard and Judy left, or when it left Liverpool really.

And yes Films used to replace This Morning during the Summer, although I do remember when I was very young that CITV used to be on all morning for the Summers holidays.

ahhhh the old summer mornings

firstly there was CITV with scally the dog and then went to showing a cartoon at 930 followed by Out of this World (US Sci-fi Sit com) to be later replaced by Patrick Duffy's Step by Step and then followed by a Film.

I remember those programmes, though couldn't remember the names, though weirdly remember the theme tunes see here for out of this world titles. Wasn't the idea of out of this world that an alien man got it on with a human women, they had evie, and then he became trapped in the weird diamond thing, and she had the power to stop time?

I remember that it was on for many years of school holidays, back when they used to put some effort in.
The only last time I remember CITV in holiday mornings was October 2003 half term when they aired CITV for an hour from 9.25, though this was most probably down to losing hours that year through the Rugby World Cup.

Anyway, back to this morning.
I think Phil & Fern have saved the programme in one respect, it needed a strong pairing after Richard & Judy left the programme, and they found them.

Unlike everybody else, I don't think that Eamonn is that bad. The thing is that with Eamonn & Ruth they have the partner link so they do work quite well together, even if Eamonn isn't perfect for the show, I think he is a lot better than all of the others, and I do think that Ruth is much better than when she rejoined the show a couple of years ago, I think the fact that she seems to be enjoying the show more is a big advantage.

Some may disagree with me, but I thought that Denise and Richard did a good job of presenting it a few summers ago. What did itv replace it with before it started running through the summer?

Denise and Richard were great - although the show did rather morph into the Big Breakfast over that Summer.

I remember ITV replaced this morning with "OK TV" a few Summers ago. Kerry Katona and Ronan Keating (I think) presented. It was basically a showbiz version of This Morning - and a TV version of OK magazine. Terrible though, and I wasn't surprised that it never returned.

Does anyone have any clips or pictures from the Coleen and Twiggy era? I remember it did a Big Breakfast back then too - relaunched with a completely different look, only to revert back to the old formula a few months later.

That's the one. Those titles were rather short as well.

What Denise and Richard are we talking about?

Van Outen? Welch? Or what?

Arnold? Bacon? Or what?

I think Vernon would be great. As we've seen from his quiz shows, he's good with people and charmingly witty; but he's also down-to-earth and not full of himself unlike certain other presenters I can think of... [cough] John Barrowman [/cough]

Yeah it would be churlish for them to airbrush Richard & Judy from proceedings, given that they presented for the best part of 13 years, the programme wouldn't be where it is now without their past input I don't think.

It's not Richard & Judy who will be airbrushed though - it's the era in between their departure and Phil and Fern becoming main presenters that is being discussed.

According to one of the tabloids at the weekend, Mr Grade views This Morning to be "expensive", it was in an article over the furore of Fern Brittons gastric band.

Not sure it's worth it when the viewers prefer the cheap Lorne Spicer / Cash / Trash / Auction variants on BBC One.
