I wonder what will happen when the new series starts in September? I wonder if they will have a whole new look for their 20th Birthday in October!!

It's probably due a new look, but I doubt it would be because of it's 20th birthday.
It wouldn't surprise me if it's ignored though to be honest.

doubt they will ignor it, that's Channel four's attitude to programmes reaching a land mark birthday (ignor it or stick in on more four and sod the loyal terestrial viewers Mad )

wonder if they'll 'forget' the John Leslie years Embarassed

This time though, I think it's justified for Channel 4 to ignore it. It would do them no good to promote programmes on ITV1.

I suspect they'll ignore it or do something low key, then go for it next year for the 21st

It's probably quite useful that R&J are leaving Channel 4 and therefore they wouldn't mind showing lots of clips of their era

I'm sure they'll like to show old clips but the sectopn between R&J leaving and Fern and Phil starting will probably be glossed over

It's like when The Big Breakfast ended - Johnny and Denise pretty much appeared to have taken over the day after Chris and Gaby left.

Yeah, I don't like it when programmes gloss over bits of their history like this. I can understand that if there was a period of instability (i.e. a "revolving door" of short-lived presenter line ups) then listing it all slavishly would be tedious, and would undermine the popular/successful/stable periods.

However, rather than ignoring such periods completely, they should at least show a quick montage of the "in-betweeny" presenters, with perhaps a quick couple of lines of dismissive narration to accompany it. (e.g. "for around 18 months after the departure of [original presenters names here] there were a fair few different presenting teams, including [some of the more notable examples named here], before [next major long-term line-up here] took to the helm"). That would at least be something.

I'm thinking that they may mention the Twiggy and Coleen Nolan era as although it wasn't very successful, both those people are still popular as people and not exactly names that should never be mentioned, both appearing regularly on ITV1 in one way or another

I can't recall what the end situation was with John Leslie and his working relationship with Granada, so I don't know if he would be mentioned or not

Although he was proved innocent ISTR Granada sacked him, pretty much the same week they sacked Michael Barrymore.

And all to think that it was caused by a freudlant slip by Matthew Wright.

John and Fern were good, but I think Phil & Fern have topped it.

It would be nice if they did do something, though as has been said, they may prefer to do something for the 21st.

I only realised it was 20 years after watching Richard & Judy yesterday with an old This Morning clip from the first show back in as they said October 1988.

I do hope that after many changes of management on both This Morning and through ITV that they do the decent thing and bring people such as John Leslie back to celebrate.

They've had many presenters over the years, especially over Fridays when various presenters have had 4 day working weeks, and have also needed school holiday cover.

20 years is a good milestone, I wonder if any programme starting out today will last for any considerable future.
Seems as though the programme usually marks the anniversary of any other show it would be a shame for them not to mark their own.

Can anyone remember if they did anything for their 10th birthday?

A montage of memorable moments would be good, with the old full length theme tune played over it. Or like others have said maybe the'll mention it briefly and focus on another milestone ie 25 years or whatever.
