An eye on the ratings again - once again down, but not too surprising!

ER 52,000
Grand Designs 33,000
Death In Gaza 61,000
Rory Bremner 30,000

More4News / Daily Show / Last Word ratings not listed on channel4sales.com

Most interesting is Grand Designs seems to have lost 130,000 viewers overnight - (or it's a mis-print!)

Also worth a mention, but E4 once again betters C4 ratings with 1.3m watching first look Lost, compared to 800,000 watching Whatever Happened to the Wildchild?

Suspect the news wasn't listed because I think it got 17,000?

Notice that from next week More4 extends it's hours, beginning at 12noon.

The Weekday schedule:
12:00pm Richard and Judy
1:00pm Hill Street Blues
2:00pm Hill Street Blues
3:00pm ER
4:00pm FILM
5:55pm More4 News Bulletin
6:00pm Time Team
7:00pm Grand Designs

Also note that on Mon 24 Oct, the Monday Event is scheduled to be a repeat of A Very Social Secretary, shown two weeks earlier on More4's launch night, and again the Thursday before on C4. Supersize Me is scheduled for the Tuesday, with 30 Days beginning on Thu 27 Oct at 9pm.

I do think putting R&J in a lunchtime slot on M4 is a good idea.

Now More4+1 has begun broadcasting on Sky and cable, can anyone provide a cap of the logo.

I assume that like E4+1 the logo only appears as a DOG!

Firstly, can I again repeat the request for a cap of the More4+1 logo! Please!

On to my main points:

30 Days last night was excellent - don't know how it rated but it's the kind of popular documentary series More4 is designed for.

I do think More4's "second chance" screenings need to be more structured though - I think 30 Days and Curb your Enthusiasm are worthy of a primetime repeat.

The Monday Event is turning out to be disapointing - we've had A Very Social Secretary and Capturing the Friedmans twice in a month, with the next programme being a repeat of a C4 UFO documentary film. They are only promising one "event" a month, but they need to tweak their schedules so it's not repeating every two weeks.

And in other news, Countdown joins the More4 daytime schedule with repeats around 1.15pm each afternoon.

Just checked the ratings and actually with 30 Days and Grand Designs from 9pm, More4 rated better than E4.

E4: 2100 One Tree Hill 126,000 / 2200 The Simple Life 104,000
More4: 2100 30 Days 234,000 / 2200 Grand Designs 168,000

This is what Andy Duncan, C4 chief exec said before the launch of More4 :

"This won't be another digital repeats channel -- More4 aims to make a significant public service contribution in its own right," said Duncan.

For me, they've already reneged on that one :

Grand Designs, Time Team, Scrapheap Challenge, Countdown, Bremner Bird & Fortune, Father Ted, ER, The Sopranos, Richard & Judy, The F Word, Jamies Great Escapes, Dispatches, and the list goes on.

This is a second chance digital repeats channel, with a news bulletin and a few documentaries thrown in and the odd US import. In that respect it's no different to many other digital channels.

I agree. Sounded like a promising channel, but so far has been a repeat filled cop out. More4 News has been very disappointing too.

Well, I think they can get away with the daytime repeats, but need to sort out primetime a bit more.

It's not even repeats that are the problem - it's just repeating something that's been on More4 so recently - in the same slot and on Saturday nights. It wouldn't be so bad if say instead of reshowing AVSS and CTF again, they'd used the two Monday nights to reshow Elizabeth - which having missed the first episode I'd have welcomed!

Also, as C4 are premiering their new drama Legless at 10.45pm on Sunday, perhaps it could have got a primetime airing first on More4.

As for the Monday event in general - they are promising one major event a month, so I think something like this would be good:

Week 1: More4 Event
Week 2: Film / Doc film etc
Week 3: Repeat of C4 Doc
Week 4: Repeat of the More4 Event

20 days later

Though the Monday night More 4 Events are not the highlight I thought they might be, I notice they are showing some quite varied documentaries on a Wednesday night at 9pm.

Each programme has it's own title, but I think if these were marketed better and perhaps packaged in a "Cutting Edge" type strand, these would have the potential to get a better audience.

Also, really getting fed up of the idents. I can cope with celebs staring into space, but this "who's that" of the culture and the arts sharing their often snobbish or just bizarre thoughts has become irritating very quick!
