So..... here we are 50 days from the projected launch of More4 Very Happy A few questions though........

Does anyone have a view on the actual launch date, and as there seems to be no C4 marketing going on, is M4 still an actual goer:?:

Will they show the West Wing on the first night Confused:

Very much so - it has a management team, and programmes have been commissioned, including a daily news programme from ITN.

As Londoner has said More 4 is due to launch sometime soon. An unconfirmed date of October 10th for the launch has been circulating.

Channel 4 have said the aim of the channel is to "stimluate and entertain" the 35-60 age group with Docs, News and Drama.

I understand the new series of The West Wing will premier on More 4, leaving its current slot on E4.

I believe no details have yet been release as to the scheduling for the channel, but that should come fairly soon.

You can find more details on More4's Timings, Providers etc through this PDF.

Hopefully there'll be some indication of the logo - I wonder if it'll involve the current 4 logo or be completely different, like E4 and FilmFour?

More4 News will be at 8pm, presented by Sarah Smith. Pity it'll be head-to-head with The World on BBC4.

Just as Channel Four News is head to head with BBC Three News. (Not exactly the same audiences though...)

Quite, though I would have thought that the overlap in the target audiences for The World and More4 News would be reasonably large.

Is it just me, or does it seem that channel 4, BBC, and ITV, all seem to be aiming at the same target audiences through their 'pioneering' new channels? E4/BBC3/ITV2 (youth programming) M4/BBC4/ITV3 (Mature programming), nothing too outstanding, and usually the same repeats, ITV3 is truely a money making venture, and I'd hate to see the same from M4. It took E4 a long time to get on it's feet, and it's conception (in my opinion) was always just to get Big Brother streamed. Without that power behind M4 I just worry that it'll be unwatchable to begin.

It looks likely then that More4 News will be a "C4 News Extra" type programme in the 8pm slot.

It was always going to be a struggle to schedule the news bulletin. It always had to be around 8-10pm - but realistically they weren't going to sacrifice the 9pm post-watershed slot.

An off-peak bulletin after 11pm or before 6pm may have been an alternative (e.g. an afternoon bulletin at 4pm - something no other non-news channel offers!) - but would be quite unlikely.
