Not sure if this has been mentioned before because but what would be the point of putting News 24 programmes on BBC 4? If you've got 4 you've got News 24. The same principle applies for Sky One. They used to show Sky World News Tonight - from Sky News. Eventually they realised there was practically no point because everyone would could see Sky One could see Sky News and if they wanted news they would know where to find it. Although this theory is now incorrect as Sky One now has about 100% penetration in multi-channel homes compared to Sky News's now 76% - due to News 24 displacing it on some cable services.
Breakfast Confusion!
At the weekend a Breakfast type programme is shown on Saturday; the word 'type' is very important as the Breakfast i.d. is the 0600 titles and Sian & Bill! The programme is called Weekend 24 even with the breakfast titles! Transmission: BBC One: 0600-0700 (N24), BBC Two 0700-0900, News 24 0600-0900. If I remember the last time I saw an early morning BBC Two on Saturday I got open university followed by an annoucement 'Now on BBC Two - Breakfast', my TV guide in the local paper said Weekend 24, the presenters said 'Breakfast from BBC News 24, until the 15 min sting when it became Weekend 24.
Sunday; True Breakfast prensentation - Graphics I meen titles & stings - Still 'From the studios of BBC News 24'. I think it was similar to the usual weekend 24 layout - I had to go out!

So why the continued existance of Weekend 24? Why not on Saturdays, Breakfast 6-9am on BBC1 and News 24, and CBBC on BBC2 7-9am - just like the rest of the week?

That will have gone up again now since SKY News was added to NTLs base pack on both analogue and digtial.
