BBC NEWS 24 is to increase its weekend hours broadcast on BBC ONE and BBC TWO from 30 September.
BBC NEWS 24, which has an average weekly audience of two million, will extend its overnight broadcast on BBC ONE on Sunday creating an additional Breakfast programme from 6.00-9.00am.
From Saturday 6 October, Weekend 24 on BBC TWO will double in length to run from 7.00-9.00am.

Why doesn't Weekend 24 become Breakfast as well? It seems odd that it still retains this title, when the rest of the week - and earlier on Saturdays - it's Breakfast.
That is BRILLIANT! I love News24's output, that will now provide me with an excuse to get up at a more sociable hour as well!

Much better. It should also give a higher profile for Sian, Darren and Bill or whoever else presents it. At the moment they are kind of in limbo of doing it on News 24 and One on Fridays, yet only News 24 on sat/sun. Are they going to carry on with the other shows like Its Your Money, and Gate 24 or will they be dropped to have three solid hours of news? Guess we'll have to wait and see although my video will be set - no way on earth am I getting up that early on a weekend.
When BBC Three and BBC Four launch properly with those names will the BBC put BBC News 24 on Knowledge and take it off One? It would be better if they had some sort of output on the channels overnight.
I think it would be great if they showed most of the BBC News 24 programmes on Four like Dateline London - anyone agree?
What's the betting we may see Clare Frisby on N24 before too long?
We wouldn't want to take her away from her top job in Hull would we.

Surely the point of having News 24 on BBC1 is so that analogue viewers are able to see it. Everyone who can get BBC Knowledge can also get BBC News 24, so simulcasting would be pointless.
I'd like to see the test card put out overnight on BBC3 & 4!
What will happen to BBC1 and 2s output of news 24 when most people have digital? There will be no point showing it on BBC1 and 2 then. Maybe we will se a return to the closedown:) or the usual overnight tosh seen on ITV And channel 4

I would think BBC ONE would continue to show News 24 so it is avaliable on more channels than one, or could repeat prime time programmes during the night so people who missed them can tape them.
