More 4+1 on Freeview

It was announced yesterday, on thediaryroom.net, that More 4+1 will no longer be on the Freeview platform, from today, and instead we will be treated to Film Four... for free... and have just seen an EPG ad on the More 4+1 channel on Freeview, confirming this will happen in July.

The channel will be primaryly used to acess the 'press red' section for Big Brother, which starts tonight, up until 23rd July then, Film Four, will be available for free in replacement of the 'press red' coverage from Big Brother... but will Film Four be free forever on Freeview?

more 4 + 1 gets scrapped today.
then until july is used for BB live
then after july is replaced with the new free version of filmfour

When does BB end? Will the last few weeks not be on Press Red?

According to the channel itself with a programme entitled More4+1 (sarcasm) it says

More4+1 is no longer avaliable
Please select Channel 13 for More 4

From July Channel 31 will be the new home of FilmFour, where you can watch great films everyday for free.

What films do FilmFour do actually show? Are they Sky Movies quality films or Five quality films?

If the question was sarcastic, I apologise, but according to the BBC it will last for up to 13 weeks.

Is 30 E4+1 reserved for something elese eventully aswell?

In theory yes, but it does quite well actually and probably better than most other Freeview channels. It often adds 50% more viewers to the E4 showing!

Well, Film Four used to show a number of 'art-house' films mixed in with some Hollywood stuff.

Tonight it's showing

The Pallbearer - a dire David Schwimmer/Gwyneth Paltrow 'comedy'
Road to Perdition - the really rather good Tom Hanks gangster flick
and Dogville - the superb Lars Von Trier film

Whether it's the same type/quality of film when it goes free we will have to wait and see.

The films they've shown in their previous free weekends have been, pretty well, a total anagram of carp, so, sadly, that doesn't bode well for the future, full-time free service.

I HOPE to be proved wrong, however.

Sorry but this is not new news....those of us with memories and brains have known this for a while. The only real new info is that it has been pulled now for the BB Live stream which was last year on the stream now used by QuizCall. The only big loss is the fact that DoND will now only be on twice a day.
