Clearly the idea with that logo is to reference the original multi-coloured version of Channel 4's blocks logo. I definitely prefer More4's current logo, and think that if they must change it, they should make it a variation of the Channel 4 logo. The main problem with the identities of the 4 channels is that they don't match each other. Individually, they're fine, but they're not coherent.

True, but in outline, the new More 4 logo matches the E4 logo much closer now though. That said, the original "4" is so distinctive that it would be difficult to get any sister-channel variation to look truly consistent.

That's not a problem, the 4 brand is itself strong enough for them to never need to be coherent.

By the way the image here looks much nicer than the one at the start of this thread.

Something like this was said in the BBC TV at 75 thread: they're so different, and don't share any common elements, so it isn't an issue. Not like the BBC ones which have so many different variations, yet try to look somehow similar - and all building on the BBC blocks. With those you haven't lots of different things competing with the core logo - the 'One', the radio logos, which, whilst not looking so bad, does weaken that main BBC element a little. It can just produce a mess that one could call inconsistent - but with Channel 4's group of channels, it's not a mess because they're so contrasting.

Exactly - and the logos always sit next to each other nicely too.

Well, they have since FilmFour became Film4 and Channel 4 got its present look - I thought the 3D C4/E4 box looked a little awkward.

This is the first "*4" logo to be scrapped is it not?

So they use triangles? I don't see the resemblance.

I suppose if we're including the "4s" of strands and programmes then the "Channel 4 News" 4 of the 90s also.

4music changed it's logo when it became a channel in it's own right.
